The Sharp EL-531X model can complete scientific and statistical calculations with a mantissa of up to 14 digits. It uses an alkaline LR44 or equivalent battery. The Sharp EL-531X model can run up to 5000 hours with one battery.

In some cases, the Sharp EL-531X calculator may need to be reset. Pressing the RESET switch erases all data stored in the calculator’s memory. Your calculator may need to be reset when using the calculator for the first time, clearing all memory contents, after replacing the batteries, or when all the calculator’s keys become inoperative. To reset the calculator, use the tip of a ball-point pen or a similar object (not anything with a sharp or breakable tip) to press the RESET switch on the back of the calculator.
