Background
MEDUMAT Basic/Basic P Ventilator is an automatic (short-term) ventilator manufactured by Weinmann Medical Technology. The MEDUMAT Basic (model number WM 22600) and Basic P (model number WM 22650) are emergency automatic resuscitators used to control respiration. MEDUMAT Basic/Basic P can be used to revive patients in emergency situations or on a long-term basis. It can also be used while transporting patients within a hospital or planned long-distance. The design is to provide controlled ventilation to people of 10kg body weight and to treat respiratory arrest. It can be preset to parameters that ensure evenly balanced ventilation and can be supplied with additional modules for aspiration and oxygen inhalation. The gas used for ventilation is highly compressed medical oxygen.

Identification
The front of the ventilator has a ventilation pressure gauge, alarm panel, air mix/no air mix switch, minute volume regulator, colour code, recommendations for ventilation settings, on/off switch, and tumbler switch. A diagram can be found on page 4 of the MEDUMAT Basic/Basic P Service Manual. The serial number of device and year of manufacture can be found on the information plate on the ventilator.
