Device Not Charging

ZTE Axon 7 is not charging.

Charging Cable is not connected properly.

Ensure that the charging cable is properly connected to the device and to the outlet.

Faulty Charging Cable

Test the charging cable currently being used for the ZTE Axon 7 by using it to charge another device (that is known to work) that charges via a USB-C cable. If the device begins charging, then the charging cable works. If the device does not start charging, then most likely the charging cable is faulty. Replace the charging cable with a new one.

Wrong Power Adapter

Make sure that a working charging cable is connected to the original power adapter that came with the ZTE Axon 7. If not using the original power adapter, make sure that it is a power adapter capable of an output of 5V (volts) / 3 A (amps).

Faulty Charging Port

If the device will not charge and the charging port and cables are correct, connected properly, and working, then check the charging port (located at the bottom of the device). Look for any debris that may prevent a solid connection between the phone and the charging cable. Use a can of compressed air to blow out any debris. Connect the charging cable to check if the device is charging. If not, then a possible underlying cause may be a defective charging port. Battery Is Dead

The battery has come to the end of its life and needs to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the battery of your ZTE Axon 7.

Battery Life Decreasing Dramatically

Device will not hold a charge for a reasonable amount of time.

Active Background Applications

Applications running in the background may drain the battery quickly. To check and disable background applications. Go to Settings>Apps & Notifications>All Apps. From here, tap on an app and tap on the slider labeled "Background Activity". Do this for all applications that are not required for basic device usage.

Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location

When not in use, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and location data can and will unnecessarily use up battery resources. To turn off each of these services, swipe down from the status bar at the top of the screen. Five icons should be listed. Tap on the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location Information icons to turn those services off. To turn them back on, tap the icons again.

Faulty Battery

The device battery may be faulty if a full charge will not last more than a few hours. The battery is either defective, the device is older, or the device has been damaged such (i.e., water damage) that the battery is no longer working properly. A damaged battery may be the cause. Touchscreen is Unresponsive

No response or intermittent responses from the device when using the touchscreen.

Screen is not Recognizing Touch Input

When the screen isn't registering touches, try to restart the phone. Hold the power button and volume down button until the phone restarts.

Screen is Frozen

Reboot the phone by holding down the power button and the volume down button simultaneously. The phone will now reboot.

Damaged or Faulty Screen

If the phone has lines running horizontally or vertically across the entire screen and/or half or all of the screen is white (or black), then there are two main underlying causes that may be possible. The first possibility is that the LCD screen (under the glass) is damaged. The second possibility is a loose display cable. Phone Won't Turn On

The device will not power on.

Battery is not Charged

Charge the battery for 30 mins or more. Next, press the power button and turn the device on. If the device still won't turn on after an hour or more of charging, the battery may need replacing.

Battery is Dead

The battery has come to the end of its life and needs to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the battery of your ZTE Axon 7.

Phone is in "Rebooting Loop"

The device powers on but either (a) remains "stuck" on boot screen or (b) reboots after boot screen disappears. To fix, try performing a Soft Reset on the device by holding down the power button and the volume down button. If this fails, then a possible cause is a damaged motherboard. Replacing the device motherboard might resolve this.

Phone is Not Producing Audio

No sound coming from the bottom speaker or attached audio devices.

Unstable Bluetooth Connection

Ensure that the external Bluetooth device is powered on. Check the connection to the phone by going into Settings>All Settings>Bluetooth and toggle the Bluetooth switch "on". Make sure that the device is paired, connected, and within range of the phone. While audio is playing, make sure volume is turned all the way up on the phone and turned all the way up on the device (if the Bluetooth device has separate audio controls).

Faulty Bottom Speaker

While audio is playing, press the volume keys (located on the side of the phone) to turn the volume up. If audio plays but has an unexpected "crackling" sound, a damaged speaker may be the cause. Replace the speaker by following this guide.
