The motor is dead

The sensor bar is immobilized
If the scanner powers on and makes noises, but does not scan or appears to jam, the internal sensor bar may be immobilized. You may need to loosen or replace the belt.
Parts of the document don’t show up when scanned
When you scan a document, parts or all of it do not appear on screen.
There is something obstructing the scan
Before looking for other causes of the problem, check the scanner bed for any materials (paper, debris, glitter) that may be obstructing your document from being scanned. Clear these items away from the scanner bed.
The glass in the scanner bed is dusty
Check the glass on the scanner bed for any dust or dirt that may be preventing documents from appearing completely scanned.
Unplug the scanner from the computer. Using a small amount of glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth, wipe the dust away.
The scanner bed is scratched
Look for scratches on the glass’s surface. Some flaws on the glass may be wiped away with a small amount of glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth.
If glass cleaner does not remove the scratches and your images continue to be scanned incompletely, you may need to replace the glass in the scanner bed.
The sensor bar is immobilized
If there are no obstructions on the glass in the scanner bed, the sensor bar may be obstructed from moving all the way up to complete the scan. While a scan is running, hold the lid of the scanner open and see if the sensor bar tracks all the way along the running belt.
If the sensor bar does not move all the way across the scanner bed, you may have to replace the belt or replace the sensor bar.
The image is distorted or blurred
Your scanner will scan documents, but the digital image is out of focus or otherwise distorted.
The original document is low quality
Sometimes, distortions can appear in a scan because the original document is too low quality to be properly scanned. Check your original image for any flaws. If the original document is too small, blurry, grainy, or otherwise distorted, try to replace it with a higher-quality version.
