Vtech Monitor won’t switch
The device shows no evidence of power.
Dark screen with no power
Ensure that both the monitor and camera are plugged into a powered outlet. If they are still not turning on, let them charge for a time before trying again. Ensure the power button isn’t stuck.
Dead battery
Ensure that both the monitor and camera are plugged into a powered outlet. If they are still not turning on, let them charge for a time before trying again. If the device still isn’t powering on, you may need to replace the battery. Follow the Battery Replacement Guides for instructions.
Charging wire not charging device
Ensure that the charging cord is in good condition with no fraying or damage.
Speaker not playing sound
The monitor does not pick up nor respond to sound.
Unactivated sound
Ensure the sound is activated on the device. Press MENU and push the arrow keys to select the crying baby face. Push the arrow keys up and down, then press SELECT to confirm.
Sensitivity Vox is set to the lowest level.
The device has five sensitivity levels. To switch between these levels select MENU and push the arrow keys and select VOX, push the up and down arrow keys until you find the sensitivity you want and press SELECT.
Low battery
The monitor comes with a rechargeable battery that must be charged to operate. If the device is not receiving sound, it could be an indication that the battery is low or dead. To address this issue, the monitor's cable should be plugged in and the device should be left to charge.
Poor reception
The monitor is located too close or too far apart. The monitors must be placed no farther than 1000 feet from each other. If the monitor is more than 1000 feet away, try moving the monitor closer.
Factory reset required
If the battery is fully charged, the monitor may need to go through a factory reset. In order to reset the device, the PAIR button must be pressed and held down for three seconds. Then the pairing mode will be able to reboot, allowing the monitor to be paired.
Damaged power cable
The monitor could be failing to pick up sound because the power cable may be damaged. If this is the case, a new power cable may be needed.
Vtech Monitor is producing static noise
The monitor produces a static sound.
Static from speaker
Check the device to see if the static is white noise. The recommended distance is at least three feet apart and no more than one thousand feet away.
Sensitive VOX
Check if the sensitivity of the VOX needs to be adjusted; steps for VOX sensitivity are mentioned above. The microphone from the transmitting unit and the speaker from the receiving unit could be creating a closed loop.
Beeping noises
The temperature in the transmitting room could be too high. There is a thermometer attached that makes noises when the temperature exceeds a certain point. Otherwise, the batteries need to be replaced or recharged.
Green light flashes on camera
The green light indicates the devices are out of proximity. Move the devices closer together to keep signals within the distance.
Screen not displaying an image from the camera
No image is displayed through the camera and the camera is not picking up footage.
Inoperative camera or screen
If the camera is not switched on, the camera will not pick up any images. Double check that the camera and screen are switched on and not off.
Dim screen
A setting is located on top of the monitor that controls how dim or bright the screen is. Check that the screen's dimness is off and the screen is bright enough. Sometimes the display looks blank because the screen is too dim. There is also a time setting on the monitor; after a certain amount of time, the device can be set to change from bright to dim. Make sure this setting is off or set to what works best.
Unconnected monitor
If the following steps have been completed and there is still no camera that is working, check the monitor's connection status.
Loose screen
If the connection is complete, check that the screen is not loose. If the screen is loose, the monitor will not be able to pick up sound or images. Use a screwdriver to tighten the screen on the monitor.
Camera falling off the stand
The joint that connects the housing is unstable.
Loose joint
Make sure that the joint is correctly inserted into the housing.
Damaged camera stand or housing
Inspect the joint that connects to the housing. Make sure that they are connected correctly. If the stand is cracked, the stand may need to be replaced. If the housing is cracked, the housing must be replaced. See the Camera Stand Replacement for more replacement.
