Blue Screen of Death

Phone displays a blue screen that doesn't go away.

Sim Card Fault

Take the sim card out of your phone and put it back in. If taking the sim card out by itself doesn't fix the problem, try rebooting your phone.

Hardware Malfunction

If there is information you want to save, then back up data on the internal memory.

  • Back up any important files to your computer via the USB port.
  • You can typically access the phone much like a regular USB flash drive. So find the device's page.
  • Find the desired folder to back up.
  • Copy desired folder onto your computer.

First turn off the phone. Turn the phone on again by pressing the power button. When the phone vibrates, quickly press and hold the "Volume Down" button. Release the button when an exclamation mark appears on the screen. Connect the phone to the wall charger for the rest of the process. Press the following buttons in order: Volume Up, Volume Down, Power, and Volume Down again. The phone should now reset. To restore your phones settings, email accounts and apps after the reset is complete, use the “restore your phone” option during the start-up sequence.

Hopefully this fixes that dreaded blue screen.

Frozen Phone

The phone is stuck on an image, and wont respond.

Software Malfunction

Turn off the phone, then turn it back on to see if it starts normally.

Improperly Seated Battery

Try removing the phone's battery if you can, and then make sure the battery is properly seated.

Hardware Malfunction

If phone is still unresponsive, perform a hard reset. (Hold the "Volume Down" control button, and the "Power" button simultaneously until the screen turns off.) Start phone to check if its functioning normally.

If the problem still persists, a hardware reset may be required. To perform a hardware reset, follow these steps. If there is information you want to save, then back up data on the internal memory.

Internet Not Working

Phone is having problems with connecting to the internet

Wi-Fi Turned Off

First, go to the settings menu and select "Wi-Fi" from the list of settings. If it is indicated that the Wi-Fi is off, drag the switch to the right and it should turn orange. The Wi-Fi should now be on.

New Wi-Fi Source

If the Internet is not working and you are connected to the Wi-Fi, the problem may be that you are using a Wi-Fi source for the first time. First, select "Wi-Fi" under the Settings menu and make sure that the Wi-Fi is on. A list of nearby networks will appear; select the one that you are trying to connect to.

Weak Connection

If you are connected to a Wi-Fi network but the internet is still not working, the connection may be weak. There are two solutions to this problem. The first is to move closer to the Wi-Fi source. If this does not work, the problem may be that you need to reset your internet router. Here is a guide to help you out Resetting Your Router.

Malfunctioning Device

Have a virus or file you are unable to move? Maybe you'd like to clear the memory space to sell or give away your device?

Software Malfunction

In some cases, the only way to fix your phone is to perform a factory reset. A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

To restore the phone to factory settings, follow these steps:

If there is information you want to save, then back up data on the internal memory. Scroll to and tap the settings menu. Select about under the settings menu. Scroll down and tap "reset your phone". Remember that your personal content will be erased, so only continue if you have saved the data you need. Tap yes twice, and the device should reset to factory settings.

Random Restarts

Sometimes the phone will just reboot without any warning or indication. The problem might simply be a loose battery, or a malfunctioning one.

Loose Battery

The phone might restart randomly as a result of the battery not being secured properly. A loose battery might lose contact and restart the phone. Find and fold a piece of paper and put it between the opposite side of the battery contact and the phone to keep the battery firmly immobile. Test the battery by shaking the phone. Repeat this until battery is secure and the phone does not restart when jostled.

Dead Battery

It might be the case that your battery is old and unable to hold a charge properly. In this case, replace the battery.

I love how all of these say "back up the phone". That isn't helpful with a dead handset.
