Tablet Failing to Charge

Your Nabi 2 is not charging

Completely Drained Battery

If your Nabi’s battery has been drained completely, you may need to let it charge for ten to fifteen minutes before the device can be powered on again.

Power Adapter Is Not Charging

If your power adapter is not powering your device, first ensure that the power adapter is completely plugged into the electrical outlet. A partial connection will not charge the device. If this does not fix the problem, next verify that your adapter is not malfunctioning. You can test this by removing the cable from the power adapter and connecting the cable to a powered USB port. If your device is now charging, then the adapter is the problem and will need to be replaced.

Power Cable Is Not Charging

If your power cable is not charging your device, first make sure that the cable is plugged in all the way to both your Nabi 2 and the power source. It is important to note that using a computer’s USB port to charge your Nabi will take longer than using a wall power adapter. You will need to allow the device several hours to charge completely. If the Nabi is still not charging, the problem could lie in your cable or the charging port of your Nabi 2.

Cracked Charging Port

If the above sections have not resolved the problem of your Nabi 2 failing to charge, there may be damage to the charging port of your Nabi 2. One way to do this is to look at the charging port and inspect the port to ensure that the inner metal tip is not loose or missing. If this metal tip is missing, you will need to replace the charging port. If there is no visible damage, you will need to open up the back of the device to inspect the charging port. You can find instructions for both of these things in our guide located here.

No Audio from Tablet

Your Nabi 2’s builtin speakers or headphones won’t make a sound

No Sound from Speakers

If no sound is coming from your tablet’s speakers, first check to make that nothing is plugged into the headphone jack. The speaker will shut off automatically if a headset is plugged into the device. If the speakers still don’t work, you may need to replace the speakers. You can find instructions on how to replace it using the guide located here.

Headphone Connection

If you have plugged in your headphones and you do not hear any sound, first check the connection. Unplug your headphones and lightly blow in the headphone jack to remove any dust that could be disrupting the connection. Now replug your headphones into the jack. If this does not work, you may need to replace the headphone jack. You can find instructions on how to replace the headphone jack using our guide located here.

Dirty Headphone Jack

The simplest way to clean your headphone jack is to lightly blow in the jack. The air blown in will displace any dust that could be disrupting the connection. If this does not seem to solve the problem, another way you can clean out the headphone jack involves getting a Qtip. Remove cotton from the Qtip until it is able to fit inside the headphone jack. Insert the Qtip into the headphone jack and rotate the Qtip to clear out any remaining dust.

Tablet Is Frozen or Unresponsive

Your Nabi 2 is unresponsive to input and/or has a frozen screen.

Device in Need of Soft Reset

To perform a soft reset of your Nabi 2, either use a small object to press the reset button located on the back of the device, or hold down the power button until the device powers off. If you use the reset button method, the device will turn back on automatically; if you held down the power button, you will need to turn the device back on manually.

Outdated Software

Sometimes an unresponsive screen can be due to outdated software. To update your Nabi 2’s software, ensure you are connected to wifi and enter mommy/daddy mode. Then, go to Settings > About Tablet > Update > Check Update > Download. Once the download has finished, your Nabi 2 will automatically reboot, finish installing updates, and enter nabi mode.

Improperly Calibrated Screen

To calibrate your Nabi 2’s screen, first remove the device’s rubber casing. Then, hold the volume up and power buttons down simultaneously to begin screen calibration. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the calibration process.

Tablet Screen Is Not Detecting Touches or Is Inaccurate

Nabi 2 is not responding to touch or response is inaccurate

Screen Is Dirty

If the screen is dirty or contains any moisture on the surface you may experience unresponsiveness or erratic behavior. Try cleaning the screen with a damp lint free cloth. Thoroughly dry the screen with another lint free cloth.

Screen Needs Recalibration

If the issue persists after cleaning the screen, the screen may need to be recalibrated. To calibrate the screen, first remove the rubber case from the Nabi 2. Next press and hold the volume up button, then while continuing to hold the volume button, press and hold the power button. Next simply follow the onscreen instructions to calibrate the Nabi 2’s touch screen.

Tablet Is Not Connecting to WiFi

Your Nabi 2’s WiFi is on, but it can’t connect to a network, or it doesn’t show any available networks

Tablet Is Not Connecting to a WiFi Network

If your Nabi 2 isn’t connecting to a WiFi network, first make sure the router is on and working properly. You should also make sure you have at least 2 bars of signal, so you might need to move closer to your router. If that is not the problem, tap on Settings, then tap on WiFi, choose your network name, and tap on forget. Tap on the same network and reconnect.

No Networks Are Listed

If there are no listed networks, your WiFi can be reset by enabling Airplane mode, making sure that your WiFi is on before starting. Hold down the power button for a few seconds. Tap on Airplane Mode and enable it. Wait for a few seconds, and turn off Airplane mode. The WiFi should try to connect automatically to your chosen network. If it doesn’t connect at all, you might have to do a soft reset on your device.

Device in Need of Soft Reset

If your WiFi is on, and you can’t see any listed networks or connect to your chosen network, you might need to power off your device. Hold the power button down for a few seconds, tap on Power Off, and then Ok. You should wait 30 seconds, and then turn on your device by holding down the power button for four or five seconds. Check if there are any listed networks once your device has booted up. If the problem is not solved, you might need to do a factory reset.

Factory Reset

Your Nabi 2 does not respond to any of the solutions mentioned and needs to be reset

Perform a Factory Reset

Before you begin, take note that a hard reset will delete all data on your tablet, so you will need to backup files you want to save by connecting the tablet to the computer through the USB cable. To perform a factory reset, press the Volume Up button, then press the Power button. Hold both of them down until the Android logo appears. Press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons down at the same time to prompt the recovery screen. Use the Volume Down button to highlight Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Press the Power button to select it. Once the reset is done, use the Power button to select Reboot system now. The reboot is complete, and you will need to sign in to your account again.

My Daughter just got the nabi 2. It wouldn't update to 4.4 like we were told it would and the website states. Messaged them and now we're told Nabi 2's no longer get OTA updates and there is no way to do it via a computer. I mean come on. This thing was still sealed in the box as a gift. No receipt but they can tell when it was registered etc. I was offered a voucher for games. How about a tablet she can use. SMH
