Weak or Failed Connectivity/Data Communication
Your MC5590 will not connect to Wi-Fi
Faulty Internal Antenna
If your device will not receive a wireless signal, the internal antenna may be faulty. This can be caused by wear and tear or rough usage. Use this link for instruction on how to replace antenna: Motorola MC5590 Internal Antenna Replacement
Device disconnected from host computer
This can be solved by replacing the device in the cradle or reattaching the communication cable and re-transmitting the signal. Your device should automatically re-transmit the signal when reattached.
Keyboard unresponsive
Your MC5590 has keys that do not register when pressed.
Jammed keys
If your keys are unresponsive, they may have become stuck after prolonged use. Use small air hose to clean keys. If this does not work, remove keyboard and physically clean keys. Here is a link which can show you how to remove the keyboard: Motorola MC5590 Keyboard Replacement
Keyboard disconnect
If keyboard is clean and keys are otherwise functional, the keyboard may have become internally disconnected. This may require fitting a replacement keyboard. See the video link above for instruction.
Audio Cut-Out or No Audio at All
Your Motorola MC5590 will have faulty audio when left on "Unattended Mode.''
Volume setting is low or turned off
Attempt to adjust the volume by utilizing the speaker icon in the navigation bar. Select the "On" or "Off" button to turn the volume on or off. You can also tap and slide the volume slider to adjust the volume level.
Faulty speaker
After ensuring that volume is enabled, check device for sound output. If audio is still absent, you may have a faulty speaker. In this case, a replacement speaker will need to be installed. This link will show you how to reach the speaker in order to replace it: Motorola MC5590 Speaker Replacement
Screen/Back-Light Not Working
Your Motorola MC5590 screen will not function.
Device off due to low battery or incorrect battery installation
Place device on charger, and then try to power on. If the screen still isn't working make sure the battery was installed properly. This is done by inserting the battery (bottom first) into the back of the device and then pressing the battery in until the battery release latch snaps into place.
Burnt-out bulb
If the screen still fails to display anything, the back-light bulb may have burned out. This will require replacing the LCD screen. This link will help you with the process: Motorola MC5590 LCD Screen Replacement
Battery Failure
Your Motorola MC5590 does not charge.
Check for correct battery installation
See above section for information on proper battery installation.
Device removed from cradle while charging
Check that the device is properly installed into the charging port and does not become detached from cradle while charging. When installed in the charging cradle, you should here a small click and the device should sit flush on the cradle. The battery should fully charge within six hours.
Faulty charging port
If your device fails to charge even when cable is connected, the charging port may be faulty. Test other charging cables to ensure that the cable itself is not faulty. If charging cradle has failed, a replacement cradle will need to be purchased.
Extreme temperatures
The battery will not charge and may incur damage at temperatures above 104°F (40°C) or under 32°F (0°C). Place the device is a safe climate and try to charge the battery again.
Battery failure
If none of the above solutions fixed your issue, you may have a failed battery. This requires purchasing and installing a replacement battery. You can remove the battery by unlatching it from the back of the device. Then simply snap the new battery into place on the back of the device.
Bar Code Reader Not Scanning
Your Motorola MC5590 will not decode or scan bar codes.
Scanning application
Make sure you have properly installed a scanning application on your device. You may have to check software and settings to insure scanning application is running properly. This can be done by navigating through the menu screens and tapping on "applications" or a similarly named section.
Bar code type and distance
You may be scanning an unreadable (defaced) bar code. The program may not be set to read the type of bar code you are trying to scan. You may be out of maximum range for scanning bar codes, check that your device is within proper scanning range.

While dexing it comes up with cannot open serial point 2 with error 55. Can anyone tell us what error 55 means and how to fix?
