The rotary hammer won’t turn on or turns off while using the device
When the device is powered on, you may notice that you have no power. You may pull the trigger to see if the device will work, however, to your surprise nothing happens or in some cases it will work for a given period of time, and then you will find yourself losing complete power in the device.
Faulty Power Cord
After checking to see if the power outlet you are using actually works by using another device on it, you can move on to checking the rotary hammer’s power cord. If the power cord has any tears or frays in it and the tool does not power on, the cord will need to be replaced. You may look at this guide for help in replacing the power cord for this power tool.
Gears feel like they are grinding or slipping
Typically, when using the device, if you feel it stalling or staggering when the trigger is pressed, it might be because the gear inside the mechanism could be slipping or you may hear a grinding sound from within the mechanism. You may even feel some form of shaking in the device as well.
Gears have inadequate grease
You will need to disassemble the device to get to the gear box and motor. Once that is done you will need you clean the built up sludge from the gear box and motor. Once the device has been cleaned, you can begin to reapply grease/oil to the gear box and reassemble the device.
Faulty gear reduction assembly
You will need to disassemble the device to get to the motor and gear box. Once that is done you will begin by taking apart the gear box and replacing the gears, bearings, ball joints and bushings. Once the gearbox has been rebuilt, you can then reassemble the device.
Rotary Hammer experiences irregular shaking and is making noise
When using the tool, you experience a vibration in the front half of the tool that causes it to not function properly.
Improper Lubrication
If you are experiencing this issue, you may need to grease gear box. To disassemble the rotary hammer gearbox refer to this guide. If the problem continues, you may need to replace the diaphragm assembly.
Faulty Diaphragm Assembly with Bushing
A faulty diaphragm assembly with bushing can cause shaking and irregular noises. This can be caused either by a bad bearing or a crack in the assembly. In order to solve this issue, follow this guide to replace the diaphragm assembly.
Overheating & Smoking
Typically, if you are experiencing overheating or smoking it is a ventilation issue.
Clogged fan
Dirt and Dust can get in between the fan and baffle causing the fan to get stuck and/or the baffle to break. If you are having ventilation issues you can take a can of compressed air and try to remove as much as you can from the fan and baffle. Removing the dust and dirt can free up and release the parts allowing your tool to ventilate properly.
Faulty fan baffle
The fan baffle can become cracked or broken from debris. A broken fan baffle cause the fan to not work properly. To replace the fan baffle reference the following guide.
Experiencing inner mechanism rattling & possible increased noise
Typically, if you are experiencing some form of rattling from the inside of the mechanism, it could be possible that one of the components came loose from the motor housing. If the motor housing has damage to it, you may also experience some increased irregular noises from the device.
Faulty screws holding the motor housing in place
In some cases the components within the device might become loose, in this situation you might need to disassemble the device to get to the motor housing and properly re-tighten or re-screw the components back to the motor housing. See this guide for more details.
Faulty motor housing
In some case the motor housing might become damaged or cracked, this could be caused by numerous reasons but typically, it happens due to dropping the device on a hard surface. If this happens you will have to disassemble the device in order to replace the motor housing. See this guide for more details.
