Computer Will Not Power On

When the “power” button is pressed, the computer shows no signs of operation.

Power Wall Outlet

Ensure your device is securely fitted and plugged into a known functional wall outlet. If utilizing a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet, press the reset button.

Charging Power Adapter

If your computer utilizes a 2-piece adapter, check all fittings for a secure connection. Ensure the male fitting is plugged into your laptop. Check to see if the insulation of your cables have been torn, cut, or crushed. If you find your wires damaged in any way, replace before moving forward.

Faulty Battery

If your computer is plugged in and operating normally, but suddenly dies after removing the main power source, battery replacement is recommended. Batteries have a limited lifespan and after about 3-5 years they will no longer accept a charge from the power adapter. This would cause your computer to shut down upon removal of your power source (power adapter). Click here to replace your battery.

Computer is Overheating

Your computer powers down due to overheating.

Computer Placement

If you are operating your computer on a soft surface, such as a pillow, it restricts airflow to your computer. Underneath your computer are cooling fans that require a flat surface in order to vent properly. Move your laptop unto a flat surface before continued operating.

Fan Bearings

If your laptop is constantly overheating, a burning smell may be coming from your device. If this occurs, lubricant must be added to the cooling fans. Grease and lubrication is used to keep your cooling fans bearings working. If you do smell anything unusual, ensure you remove your laptop from power immediately.

Noisy Computer Fans

If your computer's cooling fans produce a "hum or buzz" your cooling fans should be replaced. Click here to change your cooling fans. All moving parts wear, being said, cooling fans are constantly moving in order to keep your laptop cool and will fail over time.

Distorted Sound Equipment

Your computer produces distorted sounds while watching video or playing music.

Environment

Ensure your laptop speaker are clear of any obstructions. If anything is blocking your computer speakers it can distort or dampen the overall sound quality.

Volume

Ensure your laptop is not muted and volume is set to an appropriate level. If your volume is too loud, this can electrically overpower your computer speakers by continually playing the audio system at a loud setting. If none of these suggestions fix your device click here to replace your speaker.

Computer is Slow to Power On

Hard Drive is Full

If your hard drive is almost full your computer might start up slowly. Try deleting some pictures and videos from your computer and restart your device. To replace your hard drive click here.

Inadequate RAM (Random Access Memory)

If your laptop has sufficient space on the hard drive but is still slow to power on, you should consider upgrading your RAM. RAM is used as temporary data space during the power on/off process of your computer. You can easily upgrade your ram which would allow your computer to start up faster.

Video is Distorted

Video image is distorted, blurry, or discolored. Display screen strobes or flashes.

Restart your Device

Your device could have a minor issue in one of the operating systems. Restarting your device can resolve these minor issues. L

Improper Screen Resolution

The computer may be operating in an incorrect resolution. To fix this, double check the resolution settings by right-clicking the desktop, and selecting “Screen Resolution.” The ideal resolution for the MSI GT62VR 6RD Dominator is 1920x1080. Once completed, restart your device.

Magnetic Fields

Ensure that your device is not currently located near any magnets. Magnets can distort your screen and can cause ‘permanent damage to it.

Video Card
