If your Logitech UE Megablast Bluetooth speaker has a short battery life even after a full charging session, this guide may provide some solutions.
Loose Connection to Charging Port
The power adapter, micro-USB cable, and charging port function together for efficient battery charging.
Debris inside the port.
Clean the charging port with a non-metallic tool (Air duster or toothpick) to remove debris.
Faulty charging cable/adaptor.
test the device using a different charging adaptor or micro-USB cable.
Worn out port from repeated use.
If the micro-USB only connects when wiggled of fails to charge, tighten or replace the speakers charging port.
Faulty Battery
The battery could present quick drainage or no charge at all. You could:
Factory reset the speaker.
Turn the speaker on and hold the power button and the volume down button simultaneously for about 10 seconds until you hear an audible tone, then release both buttons. The speaker will turn off, and when you turn it back on, it will be reset and ready to pair again.
Update software.
To update the software, use the Ultimate Ears app on a smartphone or tablet. Download the app, connect your speaker, open the app, go to the speaker's settings, and check for updates. If an update is available, tap "Update" and keep the speaker and app open until the process is complete.
Perform a battery calibration.
Charge it to 100%, use the speaker until it completely turns off, and then charge it without interruption to 100% again.
If that does not work to solve the problem, you might need to replace the battery.
Power button
If the Power button isn't working, making crackling sound, or it's feels stuck, you may need to do the following:
Hard Reset
There might have been an internal issue with the operation components that a hard reset will solve by pressing the "Power" and "Volume Down" button at the same time for about 5 to 10 seconds.
If that does not work to solve the problem, you might need change the Power Button Components.
Damaged Internal Speaker Leading to Battery Issues
While the internal speaker doesn't handle charging directly, it can indirectly cause the battery to drain quickly or not charge properly if something goes wrong internally.
Constant Power Draw
A faulty internal speaker or amplifier can remain active even when the speaker is idle, continuously pulling power from the battery. This leads to unusually fast battery drainage or the speaker not turning on after charging.
Signs of Speaker-Related Problems
Look for symptoms such as:
- Distorted or no sound
- Overheating during or after use
- Battery dropping fast during normal playback
These can point to an issue within the speaker hardware or its circuit.
Basic Troubleshooting
You can try these steps first:
- Factory Reset the speaker (see steps in previous section)
- Update the Software using the Ultimate Ears app
- Battery Calibration by fully charging, draining, then fully charging again
These may resolve firmware-related audio glitches causing unnecessary power usage.
When to Consider Repairs
If none of the above steps fix the issue, the internal speaker or related components may need professional inspection or replacement. Faulty speaker drivers or short circuits can keep the audio system active, draining the battery even when not in use.
Speaker Not Charging/Powering On Due to Faulty Motherboard
If all other software and hardware failures have been ruled out, the motherboard is the most likely culprit. Check for:
Inspect the motherboard for loose or physically damaged connectors. Additional tools will be required.
If signs of corrosion are present. Wear gloves when dealing with corrosion. use isopropyl alcohol 90%+ and a soft brush and gently clean minor corroded areas. If corrosion is too severe, then a replacement of the motherboard is required.
Check to see if the fuses are burnt and replace. If any burned marks or melted plastic is present around the port or the power supply. It will indicate irreversible damage on the motherboard.
If any of the above are present and can't fixed, replace the motherboard.
