Overheating
Laptop gets excessively warm
Dust Buildup
This will present with fan or vent looking dusty, or you can hear the fan running, but it is not cooling the computer effectively. It can be cleaned out with a compressed air computer duster can. Blow compressed air into fan vent on bottom-left side of the laptop.
Fan Not Spinning or Blades are Broken
If the fan has stopped working, it may need to be replaced. In this case, the computer would start heating up and the fan would not be turning on. The fan blades could also be broken, in this case, you would hear clicking or rattling as the fan is running. Refer to fan replacement guide
Failing to Find Operating System
When booting up, error screen presents saying operating system is not found.
Corrupt Operating System
If data is corrupted by virus or failed update, the computer will not be able to read it. For windows 8, go to PC settings-> General-> Remove everything and reinstall Windows. Important data should be backed up as this will remove everything.
Hard Drive Failure
If the hard drive is not working properly, the computer will not be able to boot any information, so the operating system will not be found. Refer to hard drive replacement guide.
Battery Not Holding a Charge
Battery dies soon after charging.
Battery Needs To Be Replaced
Batteries wear out over time and are easy to replace. Refer to battery replacement guide.
Device Won't Power On
Device won't power on even when plugged in and battery removed.
Power Reset
Remove battery, unplug charger, and hold power button for 30 seconds. Try to power on.
Charger Isn't Working
This will present with the charging port looking to be intact, the laptop is plugged in, and the is battery disconnected, and the laptop does not power on. Charger could be defective whether or not it looks damaged. A new charger can be purchased on amazon.
Broken Charging Port
Charger plug moves when plugged in, or port is detached from laptop case. This can happen if laptop is dropped while charging. Refer to charging port replacement guide.
