LG G7 ThinQ Troubleshooting
This troubleshooting page will help you understand the problems you may encounter with your LG G7 ThinQ.
Black Screen
Nothing can be seen on your phone screen even if the device is on. This is signified by the phone vibrating normally in response to screen and button presses.
Charge Phone:
Try keeping your phone plugged in for an extended period of time. The battery could just need a longer than average time to charge.
Factory Reset:
It is possible your phone needs to be reset. To do so, press and hold the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Power button. When the System recovery screen is displayed, release both buttons. From the System recovery screen, select Factory data reset.
Faulty Battery:
Batteries after prolonged use can either lose efficiency or even become faulty. If the phone is able to be turned on only when connected to a charger, then the battery can likely take no charge and needs to be replaced. Use this guide to replace it.
Faulty Screen:
Sometimes the LCD screen can malfunction. This can be either through a cracking of the screen or exposure to water. When the screen produces either a half-functional image or a black screen it could be due to a faulty screen.
Camera is fuzzy
The photos and videos you take are hard to see and have a fuzzy appearance to them.
Dirty Camera Face:
It just may be that there is a little dirt or moisture on the camera lens. We recommend that you gently clean the lens with a slightly damp cotton ball. Wipe off the moisture and try again.
Camera Resolution:
Your pictures may be coming out blurry because your camera resolution is extremely low. To fix this, go into the camera app and click on settings. Once you are there click on resolution and see if it is at its minimum. If so, start to increase it.
Lens Focus:
The blurry photos could also be coming from the focus of the camera. To adjust this, go into the camera app and click on Focus Mode. From there you will need to check if it is in Auto-focus Mode or if it is in Macro Mode. If in Macro Mode, then switch over to Auto-focus Mode.
Faulty Camera:
Either due to use overtime or a physical malfunction, the camera inside the device can break. If either the camera application cannot be accessed, or the camera produces distorted visuals, it may require replacement.
Distorted Audio
You have trouble listening to any type of audio or sounds on your phone or audio is not understandable.
Broken Headphones
First make sure your headphones are not broken. Test your headphones with another device to see if that is the problem.
Clean the Headphone Jack:
There are lots of different options to clean your headphone jack. One of them could be to use a cotton swab or simply blow on it to get some of the lint out of it.
Loose Headphone Jack:
If the audio does not play audio fully, the headphone jack could be loose. Make sure it’s plugged all the way in.
Faulty Stereo Speakers:
The external speakers for the phone if exposed to water or brute force can sometimes produce distorted audio. If sound can be produced properly through Bluetooth channels and headphones, but not the speakers, then they might require replacement. Use this guide to replace it.
Headphones will not connect
You try to connect your headphones to the phone and the audio will not go through to the headphones.
Loose Headphone Jack:
If the audio does not play fully, the headphone jack could be loose. Make sure it’s plugged all the way in.
Faulty Headphone Jack:
If when plugged in the headphones produce no sound, and the speakers are functional, then the most probable issue is a faulty headphone jack.
Device will not charge
You try to charge the phone and the charger will not connect to the phone.
Dirty Charging Port:
A lot of times there could be some dirt or lint in the charging port of the phone preventing it from charging. You can take a can of compressed air to help blow out any dust or dirt in the port.
Damaged Charger:
More often than not the charging equipment is the problem. Check to ensure that the charging equipment you are using isn’t broken in the cord or if there are any wires sticking out that shouldn’t be. In addition, try using a different charger to see if that charger works better or charges faster, then you know it was definitely the charger. If still having problems it would be related to the battery of the phone.
Faulty Charging Port:
On rare occasions the port that accepts the charging cable can be too loose or faulty to accept a charge. This can be signified by the metal that accepts the cable being bent externally or internally. If this is the case, then the part must be replaced.
