Kurio Will Not Charge Properly

Kurio does not fully charge, does not charge at all, or shuts off when the battery gets above 5% charge.

Charging Port is Loose or Broken

If you are using a charger that works on other devices, the issue could be with the charging port. Try replacing the the charging port (or Micro USB connector) on your Kurio.

Charger Cable is Faulty

Try using the charger cable to charge another device. If that device also does not charge, the problem is the charger cable. You will need to replace the charger cable.

Battery Level Indicator is Faulty

If your Kurio does not fully charge, or it shuts off when the battery gets above 5%, try resetting the battery level indicator. To do this, plug the Kurio into a power adapter, press and hold the power button until the Kurio turns off, continue to hold the power button until the battery icon shows up again, release the POWER button, and press again the POWER button again to turn the Kurio back on.

Battery is Faulty

If the Kurio does not charge when you use a charger works on other devices, or if the battery fails to charge fully, the battery may not be working properly. Try replacing the battery.

Kurio Will Not Turn On

Nothing happens when the power button is pressed; the screen remains black and no sound is produced.

Kurio is Not Charged

The battery could be drained. Plug a Micro USB charging cable into the Kurio and a power outlet and wait for the Kurio to fully charge.

Charger Cable is Faulty

Try using the charger cable to charge another device. If that device also does not charge, the problem is the charger cable. You will need to replace the charger cable.

Power Button is Broken

If the power button feels like it is stuck or too loose, it may have lost its ability to turn on the Kurio. Try replacing the power button.

Battery is Faulty

If the Kurio does not charge when you use a charger works on other devices, or if the battery fails to charge fully, the battery may not be working properly. Try replacing the battery.

Kurio is Not Producing Sound

The sound is absent, too low, or distorted.

Volume is Turned Down

Try pressing the volume up button on the right side of the Kurio. This is the top half of the longest button on the right edge of the device. If the volume buttons don’t seem to be doing anything, try replacing them.

Speaker is Broken

If the Kurio is not producing sound or sound that is broken up or distorted, the internal speaker may be broken. Try replacing the speaker.

Kurio Has Software Malfunction

The Kurio may be experiencing a software bug. Try resetting the Kurio by turning it off, pressing the reset button, and turning the Kurio back on. To turn it off, hold the power button for 5 seconds until the screen displays “Power Off, Shutting Down…” To reset it, locate the small hole labeled “R” in the lower-left corner of the back side of the device. Push a safety pin, unbent paperclip, or other small object into the hole for about 3 seconds until the device displays “KD Interactive."

Screen Does Not Respond to Touch

Nothing happens when you touch the screen.

Touch Screen is Broken

If the screen appears to have been cracked or damaged, but the Kurio still displays images correctly, then the problem can be fixed by replacing the touch screen. This screen is called the digitizer touch screen panel.

Kurio Has Software Malfunction

The Kurio may be experiencing a software bug. Try resetting the Kurio by turning it off, pressing the reset button, and turning the Kurio back on. To turn it off, hold the power button for 5 seconds until the screen displays “Power Off, Shutting Down…” To reset it, locate the small hole labeled “R” in the lower-left corner of the back side of the device. Push a safety pin, unbent paperclip, or other small object into the hole for about 3 seconds until the device displays “KD Interactive.”

Camera is Not Working Properly

Camera is not tracking your motion, not taking pictures, and/or producing poor-quality images.

Lens is Dirty

If the camera is taking blurry pictures or not correctly tracking your motion, perhaps the lense is dirty. Try using a soft cleaning cloth to rub off any dirt, fingerprints, or smudges from both cameras: one is located on the top-right corner of the front of the device and the other is located on the top-left corner of the back of the device.

Camera is Broken

If the camera is producing distorted images and not tracking your motion, perhaps the camera is broken. You will need toreplace the camera.

Kurio Has Software Malfunction

The Kurio may be experiencing a software bug. Try resetting the Kurio by turning it off, pressing the reset button, and turning the Kurio back on. To turn it off, hold the power button for 5 seconds until the screen displays “Power Off, Shutting Down…” To reset it, locate the small hole labeled “R” in the lower-left corner of the back side of the device. Push a safety pin, unbent paperclip, or other small object into the hole for about 3 seconds until the device displays “KD Interactive.”

Kurio Will Not Connect to WiFi

Kurio does not connect to the Internet or App Store due to no WiFi connectivity.

WiFi is Not Enabled

The Kurio’s WiFi connectivity may be turned off. From the Parental Area, press the Settings icon and go to the section named “All Android Settings.” Tap “WiFi.” If WiFi is turned off, turn it on. Tap on the WiFi network you wish to connect to and type in the WiFi network password, if necessary.

Modem/Router May Have Issues

If you still cannot connect to your network, your modem and/or router may be at fault. Try turning off your Kurio and your modem and router for 30 seconds. Then turn the devices back on and try to connect the Kurio to the WiFi network again.

Kurio Has Software Malfunction

The Kurio may be experiencing a software bug. Try resetting the Kurio by turning it off, pressing the reset button, and turning the Kurio back on. To turn it off, hold the power button for 5 seconds until the screen displays “Power Off, Shutting Down…” To reset it, locate the small hole labeled “R” in the lower-left corner of the back side of the device. Push a safety pin, unbent paperclip, or other small object into the hole for about 3 seconds until the device displays “KD Interactive.”

User Cannot Unlock Device

Kurio says entered password was incorrect.

Password Was Forgotten

If you forget your Kurio log-in password, you will not be able to get past the lock screen. The only solution is to perform a factory reset. Performing a factory reset will erase everything on the Kurio and return it to exactly how it was when you took it out of the box. To perform a factory reset, unplug the Kurio and turn it off by holding the power button for 5 seconds until the screen displays “Power Off, Shutting Down…” Once the device is off, press and hold the volume down button and power button at the same time until the screen lights up with “KD Interactive.” Release the power button, but continue to hold the volume down button until the “DROIDBOOT” screen appears. Then, navigate to the “RECOVERY” option and select it by pressing the power button. This will prompt a new menu, from here select “Wipe Data / Factory Reset.” Your Kurio will go through a long restart phase and then welcome you to your new Kurio.

I have tried to reset like it tells me too but it has froze the screen to the Kurio starting screen. My daughter is devastated about forgetting her password as its the first time for her but i thought it can be reset as stated but its not the case.
