Check to see if it is in "Auto Mode." In Auto Mode, the camera will automatically decide whether to use the flash, and you cannot manually turn it on.
Switch to a mode like Program AE, Manual Mode, or Scene Mode (SCN) to gain control to use the flash setting.
Electronic Glitch
A simple reset or power cycle can resolve temporary electronic glitches.
- Remove the battery from the compartment.
- Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds.
- Reinsert the battery.
- Attempt to turn the camera on.
- Reinsert the battery.
- Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds.
Flash Assembly Failure
If you have performed all these steps and the flash still does not work the camera may have a hardware malfunction or damage.
