Speaker emits Distorted or Crackling sounds
The sound quality is reduced, muffled, or crackling.
Cracked driver ring
If the cause of the distorted/crackling sound is a cracked driver ring you will need to replace it. This will require disassembling the speaker to get to the driver in order to replace the driver ring with a new one.
Defective driver
If the cause of the distorted/crackling sound is a defective driver, then you will need to replace it. This will require disassembling the speaker in order to get to the driver and replace it with a new one.
Volume too high
Another possible cause of the distorted and crackling sounds is that the volume on the speaker is too high. To check if this is the case, lower the volume.
Speaker will not charge
When the speaker is plugged into the charger it does not charge the device.
Defective charging port
If your speaker is not charging, try unplugging the charge cable from the speaker and the outlet then plug it back in. If your Pulse speaker is still not charging, try a different charger cable to see if that could be your issue. If the Pulse still fails to charge, try replacing the charging port.
Defective battery
If the solutions above are not getting your Pulse speaker to charge, consider the need to replace the battery.
Bluetooth & App does not connect
Unable to connect to speaker using Bluetooth
JBL Pulse 5 won't connect to phone
Press the power button on the side of the device. Then, press the Bluetooth button, located near the power button on the JBL Pulse 5. The device should now show up on the device list on your phone. Select the JBL Pulse 5 and the speaker should now play music via Bluetooth from your phone.
Speaker not turning on/off
When trying to turn the speaker on/off, the power button is unresponsive.
Defective power button
If the speaker is failing to turn on or off when the power button is being pressed, it is possible the power button itself is defective. To fix this, try switching from having the speaker plugged in, to using the battery power of the speaker.
In need of a Factory Reset
If the speaker is not turning on or off, it is possible it needs to be factory reset. To do this, press and hold the light show and Bluetooth buttons for greater than two seconds.
LEDs won't turn on, or LEDs are flickering
The LEDs on the outside of the speaker are unresponsive or not operating correctly.
Defective motherboard
If your LED lights are not turning on, or flickering, then a possible cause is the motherboard functioning incorrectly. You may need to replace the motherboard.
Defective LEDs
If your LED lights are out, try turning off the speaker, and then turning it back on. If the LED lights still will not turn on, it is possible the lights themselves are burnt out, or defective.
