Wi-Fi/Bluetooth won't connect or won't stay connected

Your phone won't stay connected to Bluetooth devices or wireless networks

Out of Date Software

Make sure you have the latest software update for your phone and try turning it off and back on again. These are two simple fixes that can potentially solve many common problems.

Hardware Failure

If the above fixes don't work, your phone may have a common hardware issue. An easy way to test this is the Squeeze Test. Gently squeeze your phone, between the camera lens and the volume buttons, if your Wi-Fi signal strength improves only to drop after you stop squeezing, your antenna is faulty. If this is the case then replacement of the antenna is required.

Phone won't charge

Your phone won't charge or charges very slowly

Out of Date Software

Ensure you have the latest software update for your phone and try turning it off and back on again. These are two simple fixes that can potentially solve many common problems.

Faulty Charger or Cable

It may simply be an issue with the charger or cable itself, not your phone. Try to charge your phone using a different charger than the one you've had issues with.

Faulty Battery

If your phone charges very slowly, around 6% per hour, or not at all, it could be a problem with your battery which may need to be replaced.

Cracked/Blank Display or Dead Pixels

Your phone's display is very dim, completely blank, or cracked.

Cracked Display

Cracked displays should simply be replaced, follow the guide here.

Blank Display

A blank display could be caused by a multitude of problems ranging from broken/disconnected motherboards or video drivers to the screen connectors coming loose. The fixes for all of these problems require disassembly except for a factory reset from the boot menu.

Unresponsive Buttons

Your phone's soft buttons, the buttons at the bottom of the screen, or the hard buttons, the volume and lock buttons, don't respond when pressed.

Out of Date Software

Make sure you have the latest software update for your phone and try turning it off and back on again. These are two simple fixes that can potentially solve many common problems. Holding all 3 soft buttons at once should also reset the buttons themselves.

Screen Protector Interference

Your buttons may become unresponsive due to a screen protector blocking inputs. Simply remove your screen protector and try again.

Loose/Broken Hard Buttons

The power and volume buttons on your phone may become unresponsive or fall off due to being disconnected from the motherboard. The solution for this problem requires disassembly and reconnection of the buttons.

Work Around to Unresponsive Soft Buttons

A potential work around to the soft buttons not working is using an app called "Button Savior". This app puts virtual buttons on your screen over the actual soft buttons that perform the same function. Click here to visit the store page for this app.

SIM Card not detected

Your phone constantly alerts to an "Invalid SIM Card" and you cannot connect to your cellular network

Out of Date Software

Make sure you have the latest software update for your phone and try turning it off and back on again. These are two simple fixes that can potentially solve many common problems.

Faulty SIM Card

The SIM Card itself may be an issue. A simple test is to try to put the card into another unlocked phone and see if it works. Or try using a different card for your HTC One X.

Faulty SIM Card Tray

A common issue with the HTC One X is a loose SIM Card tray which would lead to the SIM Card being intermittently read. Try putting a piece of tape on the back of your SIM Card and attempt to slide it into the phone like normal, do NOT force it, it should slide in easily. For a clear demonstration of this click here.

No or Distorted Sound

Sounds played by your phone are either distorted or simply don't happen.

Out of Date Software

Make sure you have the latest software update for your phone and try turning it off and back on again. These are two simple fixes that can potentially solve many common problems.

Obstructed Speakers

Your phone's speakers may simply be blocked due to dust or grime. Cleaning your speakers with a small pin or compressed air may remove blockages and allow sound to be emitted again.

Broken Speakers

If none of the above fixes work then your speakers may be broken and require replacement.

Are there any suggestions for the screen being in a boot loop? Can data still be recovered if it is stuck in this state?
