Device Will Not Power On

You are having difficulty powering up the device or the device is completely unresponsive

The Battery’s Charge is Depleted

Ensure that the charging cable and AC adapter are plugged into both the laptop and a functioning outlet. An led light will flash on, signaling that the laptop is now receiving power. Leave device to fully charge for two hours.

The Battery is Not Inserted Properly

If the device will not power on after fully charging the battery ensure that the device's battery is properly inserted in the locked position.

The Device's Battery is Faulty

If the device will not power on after fully charging a properly inserted battery then the battery may be faulty and needs to be replaced. For help replacing the battery please read our replacement guide.

There is No Audio

You are having trouble hearing audio through the built-in speakers or through headphones/earbuds

Volume is Turned Down on the Computer

Make sure that the volume icon has speakers turned up to 100%. Also, make sure that the volume is not muted.

Faulty Audio Driver

If the audio is not coming out of the speakers or headphones, the audio driver may be faulty. Try restarting the computer. If this fails, download an approved and safe driver update and then restart the computer. Due to the age of this device, a compatible drive may not be available for download from the manufacturers website and may be found on a 3rd party website. This is not recommended for download as it may include unwanted software/viruses. If a valid driver is located, it may fix the problem. If the issue persists, click on this guide to replace the speakers. If only audio is coming out of the built-in speakers and not your headphones, then the headphones are faulty.

Device is Overheating

Device feels hot to the touch

The Device Has Poor Ventilation

Make sure the device’s vents are not blocked to endure proper ventilation. Placing the device on a flat, solid surface away from any solid objects which could obstruct the airflow is ideal.

There is Sufficient Dust Buildup

Dust accumulation in the vents and fan could lead to the device overheating. Try cleaning the vent and fan with compressed air, which can be found at any office supply store. Take caution in spraying the components because too much pressure could disrupt other components and cause further damage to the device.

The Cooling System is Malfunctioning

The fan and cooling components could be malfunctioning or broken. The safest option is to replace the fan, which is found in many laptops. Here is a guide on how to fix the cooling fan in this device.

Trackpad is Not Functioning

You are having trouble with the trackpad being unresponsive

The Trackpad is Visibly Damaged

The device has visible damage to the trackpad. This could cause the trackpad to be unresponsive or act in an unusual manner.

Device is Slow and Unresponsive

You are having trouble trying to use the device but nothing seems to be happening

The Device Has an Outdated Windows and Needs to be Updated

When the operating system of the laptop is not up to date, the system then become slower than normal or sometimes even unresponsive. By updating Windows, it should speed up the system. Due to the age of this product, an update may not be available.

The Device Has Viruses

Viruses can drastically slow down a laptop and make it very slow. By browsing the web and opening suspicious emails, you can get these viruses. To get rid of the viruses, simply open up the devices antivirus software and run.

Device Has Insufficient or Faulty RAM

If your laptop's RAM is insufficient for the tasks you are trying to accomplish or there are RAM related error codes, you will need to replace the RAM. Follow our guide on "RAM Replacement" to replace it with a newly purchased one.

Battery Will Not Charge

The device’s battery has trouble charging or holding a charge

The Charging Cable May Not be Plugged In

Ensure that the connections between the device and the charging cable are secure. The cable may not be plugged into the wall socket all the way or the charging cable may not be plugged into the device entirely. Connection between the power adapter and the charging cable may also be weak.

The Charging Cable or AC Adapter May be Faulty

If the device is plugged into a power source and the battery remains uncharged then the cable may be faulty. Check the cable for any tears or bends and read our repair guide if the cable is damaged. If the cable appears to be fine then the AC adapter may be faulty and needs to be replaced.

The Device’s Battery is Faulty

Having a faulty battery means that it would not charge. This can come simply overtime as the device gets older and the use of it is a lot. To fix this issue you will need to replace the battery pack. To do this turn the laptop over and you will see the battery on the back of it. Push the two battery release switches in then pull battery out. Replace with new one. Device's Screen is Not Working

The device's screen is black or cracked while device is powered on.

The Device's Ribbon Cable is Disconnected

The ribbon cable is what connects inside the computer to display on the screen. If bumped or moved out of place so that the connector is not seated correctly, the screen can appear black or nothing will be displayed. To fix this, you must reconnect the ribbon cable. The Device's Screen is Cracked or Broken

The screen appears visibly cracked or broken, either displaying with the visible cracks or while completely black. It is necessary to replace the broken screen to ensure proper functionality. Find the guide here to remove the faulty screen, and replace with a new one.

Device Has Faulty Floppy Disc Drive, CD/DVD Combo Drive

The device's optical drives will not run inserted discs.

Device Needs to be Rebooted

Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Floppy Disc, CD, DVD is Dirty

Remove the inserted floppy, CD, or DVD and clean it. Blowing out the disc drive with canned air will also remove any dirt and dust built up. Reinsert the disc to determine if that fixed the running issue.

Optical Drives Damaged

It is possible that the optical drives are damaged by electrical or physical damage. It is necessary that a replacement be purchased to replace them to ensure they work effectively. Find our guide here on replacing the floppy disc drive and CD/DVD combo drive.

Device's Keyboard is Unresponsive

The device has a faulty keyboard that does not respond to typing.

Keyboard Ribbon Connector Detached

It is possible that the ribbon connector that connects the keyboard to the laptop has become detached. Remove the keyboard and ensure the connector is firmly in place. Follow up through step 3 in our guide here to find the ribbon connector for the keyboard.

Keyboard Has Physical and Electrical Damage

If reconnecting the connector does not work, a replacement keyboard will need to be purchased. Once the appropriate keyboard is purchased, follow our guide onreplacing it here.
