Garmin GPS - Nuvi 265 WT Troubleshooting

Make sure the device; cable adapter, is plugged into your vehicle. The light on the adapter will turn on as soon as it is plugged in.

Be sure to update your GPS. Having the latest software update will give the device a higher chance of operating correctly. After downloading Garmin Express to your computer, plug in your device and click on the update tab.

Your GPS device is not made to be in direct sunlight. If it has been in direct sunlight, place in a shaded area and wait for it to cool down before using.

Check the fuse in the cable adapter. If that is not the problem, try changing the battery within the device. The GPS will also not hold a charge if it is placed in direct sunlight or in a hot environment.

Be sure the screen in wiped clean from dust. Having a dirty screen will keep the device from sensing your finger movements. If you can hear sound, the motherboard is working and the screen will need to be replaced.

Start with the device off. Press and hold the lower right corner of the screen and turn the device back on at the same time. Answer the questions that follow.

If your device has not been used in a long amount of time or has recently been reset or updated, it may take up to 3-5 minutes to acquire satellite signals. Interference with tall buildings also may cause the device to lose satellite signal. You can also try taking the device outside in clear skies.

Make sure your device has not been damaged or have come in contact with any liquids. If the device is working and you are having trouble with the GPS voice, you should try resetting the device. If the device still does not sound then you will need to replace the speakers.
