If your Garmin Dash Cam 35 isn’t turning on, even when plugged in, follow this page for possible solutions.
Faulty Power Cable or Adapter
The mini-USB cable or car charger may have internal wire damage or a poor connection.
- Plug the dash cam into a different vehicle power outlet or a USB power supply rated for at least 1A output. Confirm the outlet works by testing it with another device.
- Use a different mini-USB cable and a known-good charger. Garmin cables are prone to internal breakage near the plug ends.
Dirty or Damaged Power Port
Dust, corrosion, or bent connector pins can block electrical contact.
- Remove any debris or corrosion from the dash cam’s mini-USB port using a soft brush or compressed air. Check that pins are straight and not bent.
Internal Battery Failure
The internal lithium-ion battery may no longer hold charge.
- Hold down the Power button for 10 seconds. If there’s no response, disconnect power, wait 1 minute, then reconnect.
Blown Fuse
The fuse inside the 12V plug or the vehicle fuse box may be blown.
- Unscrew the tip of the 12V charger plug and inspect the small fuse. Replace if burnt or broken. Also, check the vehicle’s accessory fuse.
Software Crash or Firmware Corruption
The dash cam firmware could be frozen or unresponsive.
- If the device still does not power on, replace the internal 3.7V BL-5B lithium-ion battery.
