Potential Problems:

Joystick unresponsive/not working

No input from controller is being received by gamecube

Is not vibrating/rumbling

Buttons are sticking/getting stuck

Joystick Sticking/ Unresponsive

The joystick is stuck in one direction or misaligned. Or the joystick is completely unresponsive

=Joystick is stuck in one direction or misaligned=

If your joystick controls are going in unwanted directions or moving on its own, there's a good chance your joystick is attached to the motherboard incorrectly or your device is dirty. First, vigorously wiggle the joystick. This may dislodge some dirt or debris and your controller will work correctly again. If that doesn't work, you may need to open up your device, clean and wipe all dirt and dust out of the controller, and properly reattach the joystick to the motherboard.

Controller input not being accepted by system

There is no connection between the controller and the console. The controller is unresponsive

The first thing you should do is turn your gamecube off and back on again. If the problem persists, the second step is to check if another controller works by plugging it in in place of the original. This will determine whether or not it is your controller. If that controller also doesn't work, try a different port. Chances are you will find out if its the port or your controllers. If both controller work in neither of the ports, the problem is with either both controllers (try a 3rd) or your console. If it is the console, consult the GameCube device page. If it is your controller, and not the console, a temporary solution would be to blow into the end of the cord that connects to the GameCube.

Rumble Feature doesn’t work

The controllers rumble feature does not work.

It could simply be that the game doesn’t have a rumble feature so it doesn’t work for this game.

Otherwise it is most likely a bad connection with the motor or that the motor is burned out and the only solution is to replace the motor.

Buttons That Stick

The buttons stick in the downward position when pushed.

First check if the button is dirty underneath. Remove the button and thoroughly clean the underside before reattaching the button and reassembling the controller.
