Dell XPS 13 9315 Screen Flickering
When the Dell XPS 13 9315 screen is turned on, it flickers by displaying white or multicolored horizontal lines on the screen.
Incorrect Screen Resolution
The laptop is not using its recommended screen resolution. This can cause display issues such as the screen flickering. Change the resolution to its recommended setting,
- Type the phrase “display settings” in the windows search box. Select display settings
- Locate “Display resolution” and make sure it's on recommended resolution.
Incorrect Refresh Rate
An incorrect refresh rate may cause the screen flickering. To fix this,
- Type the phrase “display settings” in the windows search box. Select the display settings
- Locate “Advanced Display”. And choose 60Hz on the drop-down menu if the rate is above 60Hz.
Corrupted Graphics Drivers
Perform the LCD self-bit test to see if there is an issue with the graphic drivers. To start the test,
- Switch of the device.
- Hold the D key and then hold the power button until you see different colors being displayed on the screen.
While observing the screen during the color display, if there is no flickering on the screen, this explains that there are issues with the graphic drivers.
First, a solution on the drivers being corrupted:
- Restart the drivers by simultaneously clicking on the windows key, CTRL key, Shift Key, and the B key (Windows + CTRL +Shift + B).
If the solution above does not work disable the panel refresh rate. To access this,
- Type the phrase “Internal Graphics Command Center" in the windows search box.
- In the application, click on “system” on the left panel and “power” on the top row. On this tab, disable “panel refresh rate” at the bottom of the page
- Click on the “plugged in” tab next to the “on battery” tab and disable “panel refresh rate”.
Outdated Graphics Drivers
The drivers on the device may be outdated and need an update. To install the latest driver for your device,

Loose or Damaged LCD Display Connection
After performing the LCD self-bit test, and the flickering persists, the issue might be a hardware problem. The LCD display wire may be loose and need to be tightened back to its slot. To fix this.
- Follow this guide: ______ to disassemble your device and put the display connection back in its place.
If this does not work, the display connection may be damaged and need to be replaced. For this,
- Get a new display connection and follow the guide in reverse to put the new display connection in its place.
