Obstructed Exhaust Vents
The external exhaust vents are currently being covered or blocked by some external object. Take the laptop and move it to a flat hard surface to allow proper air flow. Make sure the vents are not obstructed by external objects such as a blanket or table cloth. When done, the vents should be clearly seen and not obstructed by an object.
Tenuous Tasks
The Laptop is currently being used intensively by the users. Stop or finish whatever apps are currently running to give the CPU and related hardware a respite. The laptop should begin to cool down and the fans will calm down as well. The programs or tasks being run may be too heavy a load on the current laptop and require a more suitable equipped laptop to deal with.
Clogged Exhaust Vents
The exhaust vents may be clogged with dust or debris which is blocking air flow. If the exhaust vent is lightly clogged; use a can of compressed air and shoot bursts of air to disrupt the clogged vents. If the debris is thick, use tweezers to pull the debris out of the exhaust vents as much as possible then flush with compressed air as previously stated.
Clogged Fans
The fans are currently being choked by dust and debris. Follow the instructions Removing the base cover, to open the back casing to gain access to the fans. Use compressed air to blow away thick dust and or remove any debris colliding with the fan. Once cleaned, replace the back cover by following these instructions, Installing the base cover.
