If your Dell Latitude 3440 takes longer than usual to open various programs and occasionally stutters when performing tasks, follow this page for possible solutions.
Drivers not loading
- The computer drivers may need to be reinitialized, so it is recommended that you restart the computer.
- This will allow the computer to initialize the drivers again.
Battery not charged
- Many laptops will slow the computer processes to conserve battery power. This setting can be turned off in the settings menu by:
- Opening the settings app
- Navigate to the power & battery tab
- Disable Energy saver
- Change the power mode to balanced or best performance
Unneeded Programs using Computer Resources
- Extra programs can take up device resources and slow the whole computer down. To uninstall programs:
- Open the windows search bar and look up control panel
- Click on “uninstall a program”
- Search through the list of programs and uninstall anything that has not been used in a long time.
- Do not uninstall any windows or Microsoft programs
- Restart the computer to ensure all the programs have been uninstalled
Low Memory Available
- Open task manager by pressing “control”, “shift”, and “escape” keys at the same time. Look at the percent usage under the memory column.
- If the percentage is very high this could indicate that the computer does not have enough memory.
Hard Drive Failure
- If the computer is making a clicking noise when running, this would indicate that the Hard Drive is damaged and needs to be replaced.
