Blue-screen Crashes
Blue-screen errors can have many different causes, and can be intermittent or reproducible, but either way, they’ll ruin your day.
Errors on Hard Disk
If you experience a blue-screen error that recurs at the same point every time, you may have errors on your Hard Disk. These can be caused by powering-off the device, rather than using the shutdown process. You should perform a hard disk scan. This process can be started in Windows and can take several hours, but it often resolves these issues.
Physically damaged Hard Disk
If, after scanning your Hard Disk for errors, you are still experiencing blue-screens, your Hard Disk has probably sustained physical damage, and should be replaced. Follow <this guide> to swap out your HDD.
Faulty RAM modules
If you are experiencing intermittent blue-screens, and the device is not hotter than usual, you could have faulty RAM. Follow <this guide> to replace the RAM.
Overheating
Overheating can cause the CPU to make miscalculations which lead to random Blue-screen errors while using the device. If you notice the device is hotter than usual and you have not heard the fan running, you should follow <this guide> to replace the CPU and Fan.
