Why Won’t My Gamepad Power On?

When I hold down the power button the gamepad won’t turn on

The Battery Is Out of Charge

If the battery has a low charge this may cause it to be unable to power on. Plug the controller in and allow it to fully charge. Ensure when the charger is plugged in that the charging light on the top of the controller is illuminated.

Charging Port Obstructed

If the charging light fails to turn on confirm the charging port is free of any foreign debris. When confirming the charging port is free of debris, make sure it is not loose. If the charging port is loose consider disassembling the gamepad and resoldering the Micro-USB charging port. This process can be found Here.

Why Won’t My Gamepad Connect to My Switch?

My Gamepad will power on but it won’t connect to my Switch.

Bluetooth Connection Not Established

Connect (or reconnect) the gamepad to the Switch with the following steps:

First, power on the Nintendo Switch and ensure your Switch is NOT in Airplane Mode.

Now, navigate to the Controllers button.

Third, press the “Y” and “Home” button for 1 second. Four Blue LED lights will blink awaiting the connection to establish.

Why Are My Joysticks Getting Stuck?

When in-game my joysticks get stuck in one direction or when pressed they don’t immediately extend as they should.

Joystick Sticking or Slow Reaction to User Inputs

If the joysticks are not responding as expected, check to see if any dirt, lint, or dust may be accumulated around the base of the joystick. This may be causing a lack of movement in the control and affecting the user’s inputs.

If obstructions are observed at the base of the joystick, the first solution to try is to clean the joysticks. To do this, it is recommended that the user gently clean around the base of the controls with q-tips and isopropyl alcohol. Be sure not to overuse the alcohol as this could potentially soak into the internals of the controller and cause further issues.

Bent or Broken Joysticks

If cleaning the joysticks fails to correct the issue, the user may need to replace the joystick as they may have become bent or broken causing it to get stuck in a particular position or to not respond as normal. Instructions for this process can be found Here.

Why Won’t My Gamepad Vibrate?

When playing various racing games my gamepad use to vibrate during intense impacts and now no longer does.

Vibration Setting Turned OFF

If the controller’s vibration feedback function is not working, check that the function is turned on. To do this you will need to go into the “Settings” menu of the console, find the “controller and sensors” option and verify that the vibration feature is turned on. You may also need to check the game being played as some games have the option to turn off certain vibration settings.

Vibration Motors

If a rattling or abnormal sound is being made from the gamepad during gameplay this may be an indication the gamepad is trying to vibrate but the vibration motors have become damaged and are unable to do so. If the previous solution does not correct the issue the user may need to replace the vibration motors that are internal to the controller. To do this, follow the instructions Here.

if you have a usb cable and it fits in, put it into the nintendo switch dock on the back where it says usb. then disconnect it and hold it again. should work.

They don't connect. Which means this controller is a piece of junk. It just stopped connecting to the switch. Everything is the right way and it just won't work.
