Unresponsive Touchpad

The touchpad is not working or broken.

Faulty Touchpad or Physically Broken

Be sure to check if you accidentally turned off your touch pad through the Hot Key combination. Asus Eee Netbooks will use the combination of holding down the Fn key and the F3 key. If this doesn't work, the touchpad will need to be replaced.

Unresponsive Keyboard

The keyboard is not working.

Defective Keyboard

Keys are Missing

If the keyboard is missing keys, you can replace the keys by simply using a plastic opening tool. Push the end of the tool under one edge of the button to pop it off then replace it with a new button by snapping it into place.

Unresponsive display

The screen of your computer will not turn on.

Screen appears dead or broken

If the screen for your netbook is broken or will not appear to turn on you can first try to reload your bios by, unplugging the power adapter and removing the battery. Hold the power button for 30 seconds, reinsert the battery and plug in the power adapter.

If this does not help or your screen is broken, you can follow this guide to replace it.

Computer Won't Start

The computer does not power up.

Bios Loading Errors

Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery. Hold the power button for 30 seconds, reinsert the battery and plug in the power adapter.

Faulty Power Adapter

Make sure the power adapter is connected to the laptop and a power source. Check the adapter for an indicator light. If the light is not on, the adapter is not working and needs to be replaced.

Faulty Battery

First charge the laptop, disconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop. If the laptop does not turn on, plug in the adapter and try again. If the laptop works the battery is is not working and needs to be replaced. This guide shows how to do so.

Overheating

The computer gets too hot and shuts itself off.

Blocked Vents

Check the vents on the laptop for any blockage and clean the vents using a can of compressed air.

Faulty Fan

If there is nothing blocking the vents, check to see if the fan is active by listening when the laptop is on. If you do not hear the fan, replace using the following guide.

Unresponsive Peripherals

Some peripherals are not working.

Blocked Ports

Check the ports for any blockage and clean the ports using a can of compressed air.

Faulty Ports

To ensure the peripheral is working, plug it into multiple ports and make sure the drivers are up to date. Check to make sure the peripheral is plugged in.
