If your Arlo Pro VMS4430 is not detecting motion, follow this page for possible solutions.
Incorrect Modes and Rules:
The camera’s motion detection may be turned off or set to a very low sensitivity level.
- Open the Arlo app on your phone.
- Tap Settings → My Devices.
- Select your Arlo Pro VMS4430 camera.
- Open the Mode or Rules section for that camera.
- Check that Motion Detection is enabled.
- Adjust the Motion Sensitivity slider to a higher level to improve detection.
- Walk through the camera’s field of view to confirm the setting change works.
Camera Placement Obstructed or Misaligned:
There could be obstructions blocking the view of motion.
- Inspect the area around the camera for obstructions such as walls, furniture, plants, or glare.
- Remove anything blocking the lens or narrowing the camera’s field of view.
- Adjust the camera’s position so it faces the desired detection zone.
- Aim for placing the camera 7–10 feet high and angle it slightly downward.
- Walk through the area to test whether the camera now detects motion.
App or Software Malfunction:
Restart and reset the camera if still not working.
- Open the Arlo app and go to Device Settings for your camera.
- Tap Restart to reboot the camera.
- If the issue continues, press and hold the Reset button on the camera until the LED flashes amber.
- Re-add the camera in the Arlo app when prompted.
- If motion still doesn’t appear in the iPhone app, sign in to the Arlo web interface on a laptop.
- Check the Library or Feed to see if motion is being recorded there.
- If the web interface shows motion but the app does not, reinstall the Arlo app to resolve the app-specific issue.
