Does your Arlo Pro 2 not begin recording when there is movement? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.

Sometimes the cameras may seem to not detect movement, when really it is not armed to record when there is movement.

Go into the Arlo secure app and make sure the “armed” mode is the default mode of recording.
In the armed mode make sure the camera's rules are set to record when motion is detected.
Also make sure the camera is not obstructed by anything, including transparent materials like a window. This will prevent motion capture from triggering.

If it is properly armed and unobstructed, there likely is a problem with your subscription, connection, or motion detector.

If your subscription is not up to date, your cameras will not record.

Make sure the arlo secure app is up to date.
Close and reopen the app. If the app doesn’t work try using it on another device or go to my.arlo.com.
Make sure you have an active arlo secure subscription.
Check that the camera is part of the active subscription; go to settings - subscriptions - manage cameras, and make sure the camera is correctly assigned to your plan.

A hard reset reinitializes, effectively ending all software operations that might be preventing the cameras from recording movement.

Follow these steps to complete a hard reset:

Unplug and replug the base station.
Remove the batteries from the cameras then replace them, making sure they are facing the correct directions.
Reboot your router and make sure there is a stable connection.
Make sure the camera is online and connected to the internet.
Factory reset the camera by holding down the sync button for 15 seconds until it flashes orange.

If all other software failures have been ruled out, the motion detector is the most likely culprit.
