The joystick is making inputs you didn’t make

If you are having trouble with your controller making inputs that you didn’t make such as moving left, right, up, or down, you could be dealing with a drift stick.

Drift Stick

You will have to take off the back 2 plates. There are 4 torx screws, two on each side, you will need to remove these screws. You will then need to pry the front plate off (it is held together by clips). You will see on the joysticks that there are two flathead screws on the top and left side of the joystick. To re-calibrate the joystick you will have to figure out what inputs were involuntarily being made. If it was going up or down then you will have to use the screw on the left side. To adjust for it going up you will turn the screw toward yourself and for down turn it away from yourself. for left and right movements you will be focused on the top screw. To adjust for a right input you will turn the screw left and for a left input, you will turn the screw right.

Controller Needs Calibration

You will need to go to the XBox Accessories app. Go to the recalibration tool and follow the instructions on your screen.

The headset isn’t connecting

No sound can be heard even if plugged in.

Faulty Headset

Try to use a different headset. If there is no additional headset try to plug it into something else to see if the headset works. If the headset works, just not with the controller, go to the settings page on your Xbox and see if the controller needs to be updated. Suppose it does then update the controller.

Muted Controller

Check the controller speaker volumes within the console sound settings. Confirm that the volume on the controller is not muted, and adjust the volume using the settings. If the problem is still there, try restarting the console and make sure it’s free from any physical damage.

The device won’t power on

The device isn’t powering on even with being plugged in.

Dirty USB-port

Try to plug the controller into a different operating system. If the controller still won't power on, try plugging it into a different port. If it still fails to power on, check to make sure the USB plug is clean and free of debris.

Non-Compatible Operating System

Make sure the operating system you are plugging the device into is compatible with the device. If the operating system is compatible make sure it has the most recent updates.

The controller’s not responding

If you are making inputs and nothing is happening.

Sticky Buttons

Make sure there are no sticky buttons or sticky joysticks. These can cause other inputs to not go through. If sticky buttons or joysticks are present, clean the controller thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.

Firmware Out-of-Date

You will have to check in the settings page of your operating system and check to see if there are any updates needed for the device. If so update the device.

The controller won’t connect to the operating system

The device is not connecting to the system.

Older versions of controller drivers

If it's not connecting to the operating system plug it into a Windows computer. Go to the device manager in settings and select the controller. Once there, select Update Drive.

Not Connected Properly

Your controller may just need to be turned on and off again. You will need to power down the controller by holding the power button until it shuts off. Then unplug the controller from the operating system. Once completed reverse the steps and your controller should respond properly.

No I'm not sure what you mean by power it off I can hold the Xbox button all night and day and it wouldn't shut off my controller

Yeah I just literally held down the Xbox button on my 8-bit do controller "8-bit do ultimate wired controller" for like 5 minutes and it never powered off

Do anybody know what size torx screws the 8bitdo controller uses?
I need to buy a Torx Screwdriver set and I want to ensure that the correct size bits are included in whatever I buy so I can actually fix my problem.
