I picked up a MacBook Air on Craigslist for $100 with a dead, swollen battery & horizontal + vertical lines on the screen. Replacing the battery somehow triggered slow, fluttery, goofy booting & a left shift key which doesn't work or uses ALL CAPS which can only be reset with a restart :-/ Upgrading the OS to macOS High Sierra did not help. After a few months, Apple updated macOS High Sierra, which fixed everything except the lines on the screen. I'm happy with this $100 MacBook Air now, lines on the screen included. I wish I only had 1 line on the screen :-)
Per saperne di piùSounds like your Dell didn't close properly when last shut down/shut off. The clue is the indicator light on before you plug in the adapter, suggesting the notebook is still on, perhaps in sleep mode, instead of shutting down normally. You might try the following: 1) unplug the adapter & any other external devices from your Dell 2) remove the battery from your Dell & set it aside 3) press the power on button 10 times at 1 second intervals (an analog watch is handy, with a second hand, to time the intervals 1 second apart) This is done to discharge voltage in the circuits & help the memory chips forget whatever they might be retaining. 4) press & hold the power on button for 30 seconds (one continuous interval) This has the same purpose as #3 5) replace the battery; plug in the adapter; press power on as you normally did before this problem came up 6) It might boot normally into the OS. If it does, leave the adapter plugged in 'til the battery is fully charged as indicated by the power icon in the tray. You...

The front glass over the screen popped up on my A1533, exposing everything inside. I can press it back down, but it pops up as soon as i life my finger.
How can I reseal it to protect everything inside?
For Will Knapp: If you have a selection of driver bits for your driver shank & handle, try different bits not intended for that Phillips or Pentalobe or other fit on that fastener. Also try angling the driver with various driver bits, to get a grip on the stripped head. This is good to try on any fastener with a stripped head. And use extra pressure to get a grip, before applying torque.
