Recently I came across this website as I was looking at how to fix my Zune 120 GB with a cracked screen before I thought of sending it in to pay more money than was needed. I happened to click on this link and fell in love ever since! All throughout my childhood I had an addiction to take things apart to figure out how they worked, but alas never knew how to put it back together. This website has given me back my childhood days of looking at just about anything, drooling at the thought of having its guts on my worktable, and perform electrical surgery at my expense! Currently I'm in Japan serving in the United States Marine Corps, and I have to say, there isn't a better way to keep my mind busy and stress free than utilizing the ifixit toolkit to help out the Marines here fixing their electronics as well as teaching how to fix them. I'm currently trying to learn as much as I can about motherboards, soldering, Cisco router programming, programming software, basically anything to do with electronics to where I could build them, it's a hard goal for me to learn, but it's also a dream of mine to reach.

Right, so It's been over a year now since I've belonged to the Ifixit family and you know what, the family feuds and awkward dinner conversations don't even bother me anymore and all this orphan has to say to the family is "please sir may I have some more?" eh EH?! who can name that movie?! So I found the site while surfing the web in Google because I was deployed and had not only cracked my Zune media player, but also fried one of my hard drives with all of my previous deployment pics and music and movies....oh the agony of it all. I had asked "hey is there a way to replace the hard drive pcb" and that was when I had first met Oldturkey03 who was able to assist me in replacing the part I needed. He's a very knowledgeable guy and was swift to answer my call. I respected this site all that much more then so if you ever get a response from him, I'd listen, the man knows his stuff! But there was only one problem....I like to tinker with things and take it apart....so I definitely opened up the hard drive way too far into the discs where I offset the disc reader for the hard drive and all the lovely Afghani sand blew in...great. Well that was a loss but ever since then I've been opening electronics up, AND ACTUALLY FIXING THEM! I love helping people out whenever I can and find ultimate enjoyment when I can see a satisfied client able to go back living a happy life. By the way I suppose I should mention I'm a Marine, a military member with a brain, INSANE RIGHT?! But no worries, my drinking pleasures don't interfere with electronics maintenance ) I currently live in Japan with my beautiful wife and we have an incredible 3 year tour in front of us sightseeing and traveling all over! So if you ever need anything, I will always do my best to provide an answer...you know, unless Uncle Sam is screaming my name beforehand.
