And just to add there is no need to replace the entire mechanism, the issue is caused by the rubbish plastic washers that secure the end of the spring mechanism. You can replace these with metal ones to fix the issue and prevent it recurring.
Transferring the antenna connector was by far the trickiest bit of the entire repair for me. Getting it aligned and click back into place took ages, all the time worried I’d damage the fragile coax connector.
The updated iOpener version of the guide references "a small gap in the iPad's adhesive ring in the upper right corner of the iPad". This is incorrect, that applies to iPad 3/4 only. For iPad 2 you should still be starting to the right of the home button, taking care to avoid damaging the WiFi antenna.
