Added a SATA 2TB Samsung EVO 860 to the 2014 Mac mini, was able to achieve around 600MB/sec read Write, which is ironically more than the 512GB Apple NVME that was from factory, but that had the files and OS on. Limitation with this machine is not capacity as in total I've had in was 6TB of storage 1x 4TB Crucial P3 Plus and the above EVO 860. The P3 started fast around 800MB/sec read or write, but as it filled up to around 1-2TB free it was down to 250MB/sec max, slow by modern standard! So lack of speed becomes the problem, but they could be upgraded to 8TB with ease and very cheaply...which makes Apple's current storage prices look very high for those seeking capacity over raw speed. Which is probably the case for most normal users with big photo and video libraries but don't need to edit RAW video files at silly speeds, but this is not the machine for that anyway. Stick it behind the TV and use it as a massive very fast media server, way quieter and faster than any most NAS systems unless going 10G.
In order to remove the PSU you may need to push down on the SATA plate in the area that the screw in the previous step was removed as the PSU gets caught on it the plastic screw surround that keeps the PSU aligned with the plastic SATA / SSD plate tray.
Great little guide! I’ve just had to replace the second battery on my 6S Plus, and because the aftermarket sticky strips that secure the battery to the case where less sticky (not from iFixit), it was possible to skip steps 17-27 (but perhaps not advised) turned into a 5 mins job all in as opposed to nearly 40mins because the original battery sticky strips are a really pain! Regarding the perimeter tape gaskit that seals the screen to the back, it is possible to reuse the original but it is likely to part lifted / broken. So I’d say that dust protection is compromised, that said, I still found the orginal gaskit adequate even after two battery replacements . GearDo via aution site in the UK offered the gasket as a separate item, but I’ll save it for my 3rd battery - haha!
