Hey, Elisa. Remove the plastic cover under the radiator to access the draincock. You’ll need to drain the coolant from the radiator and dispose of it properly. Disconnect the two transmission fluid lines that connect to the radiator/cooler assembly. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses. You will most likely need to remove the radiator fan and the fan shroud to remove the radiator. Be sure to keep the radiator cap from the old radiator, as new radiators typically do not include a new cap. Remove and replace the radiator and refill with the proper coolant. Reconnect the transmission lines and be sure they don’t leak while the car is running. Check the transmission fluid levels and refill any lost fluid. Hey, Chris. Depending on the exact year (2001-2005) I believe some of the 2.4 equipped Optimas do not have an in-line fuel filter. Instead, they rely solely on the “sock” filter that is attached to the pickup tube in the tank. If yours does have an in-line filter it should be just in front of the fuel tank. The Optimas with the 1.8 sometimes have their filters located on the firewall on the driver’s side. Check there just to be sure. Let me know if you find otherwise and good luck with your repair!

Is the full code P0171? If so that indicates a lean fuel mixture, which can be caused by lots of different things. I would start by checking for a vacuum leak, check for loose or dry-rotted hoses. Clean the Mass AirFlow sensor with the appropriate cleaner and see if your problem persists. If so, check your fuel pressure, if it is too low you will need to determine the cause. There should be a short rubber or plastic tube that hangs out under the passenger side of the vehicle, yours is either clogged with trash or got pulled into the cabin. Hey, Daryl. The first thing I suggest is checking for spark. You can obtain an inexpensive tester at an auto parts store, or make your own with an old spark plug. Once you can say whether or not the spark plugs are firing I would check for fuel. Get a can of starter fluid from the parts store, remove the air cleaner assembly and spray a little bit into the throttle body. Hey, Dick. If it is a commonly used set of buttons on the remote, it might be that the conductive material on the back of the rubber contacts has worn down. This can be fixed by cleaning them with some Isopropyl Alcohol and applying a small drop of conductive paint, specifically designed for remote control repair. Typically the hoses are two different sizes, each one should route to the heater core on the firewall. If you let us know what engine size your Trooper has I can try to find a specific diagram.
