I'm a mechanic not a phone repair expert but i have mine torn apart right now. It looks super easy to replace. You just got to pop the back off pull 10 Philips bit screws off the mid frame. Then its glued to the front of mid frame with a contact pads and control board glued to the back. Peal it up, fish it thew hole in the mid frame and your home free. Replacement scanners look to be $5-10. Edit Oh i misunderstood you question. No idea m8 XD. They are so cheap i'd be worth getting one to find out.
