kia has a valve on the tank which prevents fuel being pumped if car turns over but in your case sounds like running out of fuel has caused an airlock in the system and the pump will have to be primed in order for it to work, this will be a mechanic job or someone who knows what they are doing ????
if itas the same as my rio 2005 at the right hand end of the engine block underneath the ignition coils is a plastic cover held in place by 2 x10mm bolts remove this cover and the sensor is inside. you will need a new 'o' ring as they normally get brittle after a few years and will break as you take the cover off
i had the same problem on my kia rio 2005, go too the fuse box under the bonnet and remove the cover, find the ecu fuse which should be marked inside the cover and there should be a fuse puller in the cover. pull the fuse out and leave for approx 2 hours, this should enough time for the loose its settings.refit fuse and drive car for a few days normally to reteach the ecu. this should solve your problem. THe ecu has settings in it for your old tps and needs to be reset for the new one regards
