We had employees whose Ideapads showed the exact same problem only after a few months of service. I doubt that the build quality is made to last. Depending on where the rip is located you could just try to find a cheap replacement cover on AliExpress for example - or go Arjit's way!

There are plenty of things to consider:

1. Did you buy a used screen? Has it been opened? The digitizer and the display are in fact to different parts - maybe it has been tinkered with? Are you sure that you have plugged the display connector in correctly?

2. See if a BIOS upgrade is available and apply it - sometimes that does the trick.

3. Do you have a Ubuntu USB pen drive at hand? Boot it up and see if the touchscreen works under Linux. If it does it's probably just a driver issue. Under Windows in Device Manager you should have a device called something like HID compatible touch screen listed under input devices. If its there - try to uninstall it and reboot.

Try eBay or AliExpress. You probably want a used screen. New ones are most likely as expensive as the whole unit

The cables should be replaceable. Look up Lenovo Yoga X1 LVDS cable on ebay for example. Still you have to open up the display assembly to replace it but that is feasible. Also - you need to know which cable is damaged because there is one for the digitizer / touchscreen and one for the display and webcam as it seems.

There is no need for the controller to be cooled. It is the same with the MacBooks of that time. The controller chip isnt even covered by the heatsink.

I have taken apart the whole thing and never came across a bios battery. In the S340 the cmos battery is connected to the left hand usb and power button board. Also the whole backside of the mainboard is covered in metal foil so I guess there isn’t one as well.
