Wow, thanks. That was much easier. I unscrewed the corner Torx screw holding the mobo down for just a touch of flex.

Used a couple of screw drivers to pull the tabs out

It helps if you have done a bunch of memory upgrades so you have a feel for how to get the chips in.

OK, so not going to do that ever.

That was far and away the hardest computer upgrade I've ever done. So many little cables that I didn't notice were trapped until I had the motherboard back in, had to redo it so many times. And a couple of times I couldn't get the mobo lined up right and had to redo some more. I'm a little shocked the computer still works. 2 hours!

Are we sure that the higher end models will have soldered RAM as well?
