With the screen shattered near the bottom, I was unable to get the suction cup to adhere to lift it from the base. I was able to get the plastic tool in where there was glass missing and carefully pry it loose without dislodging any more glass.
Re-assembly went well, though I wish there were pics/videos sharing tips for that. I found the plastic tool to be an asset again in reconnecting the cables though.
