No service after screen replacement.

Sorry for my english if I make mistakes, I'm french, and still learning even if my wife is english ;).

So I had the No service problem after replacing the LCD screen on an iPhone 4S and the Simcard seemed not to be recognized anymore. I checked everything I read in comments of differents questions about this problem people asked on iFixit.

Everyhting was connected correctly, I didn't break the litlle blue coil etc... After a long long night searching, I found where was the problem.

The little black pressure contact underneath the battery connector was not "high" enough. I don't really know if you gonna get what I try to explain but I try. This pressure contact has to touch the back cover of the iPhone where there's a metal part who's connected by the two screws to the external antennas of the iPhone. So I just put a little more up this part for that to touch the back cover when you close it.

In the end I recovered the signal and everything works well now.

I'll put some photos if any of you need some and hope that can help you! ;)

Sounds like you may have knocked off the signal resistor off of the logic board when you was disconnecting a connector.

Would soldering the 2 points where the resistor was work like on the iPhone 4?

In theory yes, but I did a beautiful solder on mine under a magnifying glass. The battery percentage wasn't reading right and like I said before, I had a carrier problem after soldering. My guess is some kind of interference or short circuit in the motherboard. So like LEE FORGET suggested I replaced the motherboard. Down here in Brazil the mother board cost me 50% of the original iphone price. But I figured it was better to fix it than let it go to waste. Working fine now.

I soldered the 2 together and I'm now getting really good signal :) so there's no need to change the motherboard, thanks for everyones help

Where is the resistor on the 4s?

Any suggestions on the best place to get a new motherboard?

I just did a screen replacement on an Iphone 4S and have checked all connections they are all good, blue resistor is still there. Everything else works fine, WIFI signal is great etc.

Problem is that it doesn't recognize if I remove or insert the SIM card and all I get at the top of the screen is Searching...

I've tried the SIM in my unlocked personal phone and it works fine. I also get signal just fine on the same network using my personal Iphone 4 and SIM card, so I know it isn't a signal issue with my location.

Any sugg's?

I'm trying to attach an image with a piece that my logic board doesnt have, its the black resistor looking thing beside the dock connector cable (Step 9 — Dock Connector Cable in the tutorial) , could this missing piece be my searching... issue

well i had the same problem after installing a new screen, but the i dissembled my phone completely, and assembled it again making sure every cable was placed correctly and cleaned all metal to metal contact, and then i began working again.

my iphone four did the same but it was a minor error i made while reinstaling after placing the screen. i had trouble sliding in the sim card case so i dis assembled again and looked for any problems.i under moderboard you can see where the sim card enters there was a small rubber that protects the sim card as soon as i took that out reassembled. and turned it on there was heaven music in the room i had signal once again.

Hello, i just replaced my front and back-glass on my iPhone 4s, somehow i lost the Mic 2 # connector. When i started the phone up it could not find the Wifi or my Sim card, what have i done wrong?

Well I also was having a similar problem with my iphone 4s so I ended up taking the shield off the one that covers the connectors on the top left corner next to the camera and it worked but i also put wiring tape over them so they wouldn't move sounds to risky but it worked for me...

The problem is not the motherboard.

If you didn't have problems with 3G before you changed the screen/digitizer, there's almost no way it's the motherboard. It was something you did assembling/disassembling the cables and connectors.

Try every method people mentioned...they each work for the particular situation that caused it. If you try to buy a motherboard, you will be sorry....better off getting a refurbished or upgrade to 5S or 5c released yesterday.

Not sure what to do...

Replaced the screen and getting no service. It just says searching. It doesn't matter if the sim card is in or not.

There is no network or modem firmware showing. Everything else is populating.

• Wifi and BT work
• the blue capacitor is on the board
• changing the date/time didn't work.
• I restored the phone
• I have rebooted several times. running 6.1.2 JB Evasi0n.

**9/23 update I replaced the antenna. No change.

Actually that very small cable-connector underneath wasn't connected correctly.

Hey guys I have a no signal iphone 4s I have changed the antena which was tested in another iphone 4s ti be working also I get no volume in the ringer which is also working when inserted on the other iphone.

Hi Every one. I have replaced my cracked screen in iPhone4.

now i have no service problem.

i have tried different tricks avaibale like

sticking tape to the sim card tray

resetting network settings etc

but it didn't help

I remember i saw a small black piece of rubber that i found inside the phone when i pull out the battery or motherboard circuit.

that piece of rubber looks like a small piece of cable cover cut half way through. its one side is round and the other side looks like there is space for wire or something else.

Now i dont know where does that small piece of rubber fits.

might be the reason for no service .

Hello, had this problem and after unscrewing most screws and watching at the parts and rescrewing the whole phone !it worked!, the sim slot did problably not make any problems but the wifi antenna kable should be clicked in properly and i changed the cellular antenna kable into its origin position, there is a metal pice that directs the kable to its socket and you can make sure that the yellow metal pices are at the right spots, for example at the battery connector i guess it has to touch the backplate and the antenna sourounding

Hey guys. I have looked over all the answers and "fixes" for this but unfortunately I am still no further forward. I replaced the entire LCD module because it was literally in half (the glass, lcd was fine)... Before the replacement it was unlocked and full strength but after the replacement I get this: "○○○○○ O2-UK 3G" and when I turn 3G off it goes to "•○○○○" then back to the "○○○○○ O2-UK 3G". This is really annoying because I can no longer use the phone as a mobile, but just as an iPod.

Antenna and everything is okay and the whole phone is fixed working EXCEPT the mobile cellular connection. Now strangely enough I have had a blacklisted phone but it just comes up "No Service" so I know it's not blacklisted, but when I put a H3G 3G-ONLY SIM card in it, it stays at No Service without going to something like "○○○○○ 3 3G" Can anyone help out before I buy a new antenna module w/speaker and mic? I am having this dumb !@# problem but none of the answers given are working. Every thing is connected perfectly fine, all the screws are back in place, I've tried turning air plane mode on then resetting network settings then turning air plane mode on and off again but still says "searching..." . I have disconnected then reconnected the antenna time and time gain but that still hasn't worked. Many answers say to reset the time and date or do that and turn plane mode off then on and it should work, but it doesn't. I have done EVERYTHING I could think of and EVERYTHING I've been told or seen on YouTube or here but it still hasn't been fixed. Please someone help me.

Have you reconnected to your wifi and allowed the time to reset automatically?

I*ve surched a long time in the internet yet and have the same problem. I just noticed that this really, really, really small blue inductor was a bit damaged. You have to look very exactly at the position where it should be, because somtimes it doesn't seem to be broken.

Well I bought now a CurcuitWriter pen to connact the both ends, where the inductor was. That's why I think it is much easier than soldering.

I hope this will solve my No Service Problem.

I had the exact same problem -- jailbroken iPhone 4S on AT&T: after screen replacement, I could connect to wifi but not to phone service/4G, it just said Searching. Also there was no change when the SIM card was removed/replaced.

The fix that worked for me was mentioned above, resetting the date/time manually. I just did this:

• Go to settings, general, date & time
• Turn OFF "set automatically"
• Reboot

Then voila, I had service again. Thanks to whoever posted that tip above, just wanted to add that it worked for me!

I have the similar problem. I tried to replace the home button by following ifixit procedure and after replacing the home button and connecting things back in place and restarting i observed that its not detecting the SIM well :(. It took some 10days to figure it out.

So, for checking the sim issue, initially i didnt remove battery and had display power on.

Removed the back plate and I tried to press few things on back and see if there is a sim detection. I tried to see if i have any loose screws but all are fine.

I tried setting the date and time to latest and still saw the issue. The blue inductor near the battery connector is fine. So, i am looking what else can be done.

While trying this, I tried pressing the motherboard with little pressure and i see that sim doesnt get detected. When i release it tries to detect and fails showing NO SIM again. Then i tried to loose the screw at middle of mother board Step 16 and Step 8 i started seeing that sim got detected and phone is trying to acquire signal. So, it seems if we clamp the motherboard tightly the issue is occuring. I managed to fix the screw in such a position so that my sim gets detected and finally i closed the panel.

After few days, i was needed to change the sim and when i inserted another sim, i see that that sim is not geting detected. Same problem again!!. I tried with some other sim, again that too is not getting detected. But if i keep my old sim, its able to detect.

I tried to tight/loosen the screws again for the new sim. Now it works for new sim but not for old sim. I tried some 10-20 times loosing one screw, tightening other. But one is matching for one sim and not for other sims.

I got frustrated but one fine day again, i sat to try repairing again. But i already knew my problem is due to screws and pressure on mother board. So, i thought i will keep something below the mother board so that it wont get pressed. I removed almost al the screws, battery and speaker etc. I took small peices of papers, folded them so that they will have some width and inserted behind the sim tray, under mother board. Now mother board is little higher than base. I have reconnected all the screws, not too tight though and placed the back panel and after switching on the phone, i need to set date and time since its got lost whle removing battery, and then i see that the new sim got detected. Hurray!!.. I tried with one other sim, it got detected. I tried with old sim it got detected :) :).

I am not sure why on applying pressure on mother board or tightening the screws is causing the phone to not detect the sim. I am not sure if due to papers behind the sim tray helped me or due to screw loosing, but the reason for sure is some interference with inductor or what ever. May be you can try the same procedure and see if that can help.

Alright, I had the same problem. I worked through every solution.

My fix was to make sure that the antenna cable is actually connected, it may appear to be slotted/clipped in. But it's probably not.

Check and double check your antenna is plugged in. This caused me a lot of trouble!

Hi,

try a hard reset and then connect the iphone with the wifi. Then it gets the correct time and if wait. If not try a hard reset again.

I often had the problem it solved as i conected the device to wifi.

i re-checked all connections for bad earth, no luck. found a response that said change date as i was stuck on searching in 1st january 1970.

went to settings, general, time and date. double clicked on blue date and had to scroll all the way down to 2014 and couldnt find a way to change year.

once set to the current date, save and press top button till switch off shows and slide off.

swich back on and signal should show pretty quickly. if intermittent serching then bad connection or bust blue inductor coil which is common, so much so u can buy them on ebay.

GUYS PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS LISTEN UP IF YOU ARE STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE.... I got my iPhone 4S and it had a f***ed screen so I bought the replacement... Then all of a sudden, the phone signal stopped working... I initially looked to this forum and other forums on Google to find the answer, now some people are saying they have fixed it, that's great! But others haven't and here's why.....

IT'S BLACKLISTED/BARRED...

If no other steps fix your issue, do what I did and go to imei.info and purchase a simple blacklist check for a quid or so, and you'll have your answer... The guy I got the phone off a mere 5 months earlier, had actually did a lost insurance claim on it and the network blacklisted it.... So yeah guys, you really ought to check this first.... I couldn't believe I spent £ 120 for something that is as useless as a potato peeler in making 4G phone calls....

Just reset and then connect the iphone with the wifi or a PC. Then it gets the correct time and if wait. If not try a hard reset again.

I have the same problem, probably the blue signal coil has removed, i tried to bridge the two touch you can see in the picture but i destroyed the right touch as you can see in the picture again, please help me. If there is a way to make this phone work again and someone knows it i would appreciate to help.

just remove the sim while its on and reinsert

I have a 4s unlocked tmobile wih a cracked screen. Bought an 4s Apple ID locked from canada

& switched my unlocked 4s logic board into the Apple ID locked 4s wih good screen only to get the "No Service" after the initial searchin process. Everything works fine... Wifi, camera, etc. what could be problem? Am i still getting a blacklisted issue or cable connection in the 4s's internal connections?
