My dryer struggles to start spinning with a mid sized load in it remove an item or 2 and it starts runnung once spinning it runs fine belt and guide wheels are good and there are no strange noises it only struggles at start up ??

@graemet sounds like either a bad motor (bad start windings) or a bad start capacitor. If your model is a DEGX1 then there is no separate capacitor. Use the Fisher And Paykel DEGX1 Service Manual to work on that model dryer. Page 36 will tell you what to check.
