Hey, my pc is not performing as it should be while gaming. In games like fortnite my pc starts lagging while my friends with slower PCs are not experiencing any lag

My Pc specs :

What is your drive? HDD or SSD as well as its size and how full is it.

@kozeriukaslt - OK, so we have two drives here then.

First you do want to be using your SSD as the boot drive (has the OS installed on it, and I leave as much free space on it for Virtual RAM as well as caching/scratch space for the Apps (games).

HDD’s do need a bit of love as over time the files get fragmented so you loose performance. If this is mostly a gaming rig you’ll want to move the game files over to the SSD as the constant read/write on the HDD will slow your game play.

But SSD’s have a weakness! The given data block can only be written to so many times. This is where the size of the SSD plays a factor! The larger it is there are more blocks to write to, but the blocks need to be vacant! Otherwise the SSD micro controller is forced into shifting things around moving files which are older to blocks that are more worn freeing up less old blocks. The more of this going on likewise slows the system down.

So make sure you have a good chunk of unused drive space. You might want to get a SSD good monitoring App to check how worn the drive is.

@kozeriukaslt

Assuming that you have Win10 or Win11 installed, have you checked that the latest graphics drivers for the GPU card are installed? Click on "Find" in the link to view the driver version

In the PC go to Device Manager > Display Adapters > right click on the Nvidia adapter entry > Properties > Driver tab to view what version is installed.
