Disk drive not working even after replacement

So, I purchased the ps3 off a friend for 20 dollars knowing it was broken I switched the cables, and it worked with no issues however when I bought a dual layered disk like god of war 3 it will not read it at all I researched it and everyone says its the Lazer so I installed a new Lazer (the Lazer is here)(Sony KEM-850 PHA Laser Lens Blu-Ray DVD Deck for PlayStation 3 CECH 4001A 4001B) after installing the laser it does the same thing as before I tried with another ps3 super slim but it also does the same thing if it's a single layered disk it will read it but if it's a dual layered disk it will not I feel like maybe it's the laser, there are brand new cables and everything should be fine but for some reason it just will not read them I have looked at the board and don't notice anything and no one has said anything about those blue ray chips going out so I am at a loss and am looking for anything.

P.S I have cleaned the games and the Lazer unplugged and replunged everything and did the system reset thing nothing has worked.

the disk in there is god of war 3 its in good condition and should work heavy rain or any other single layer works fine

Hi!

Did you also replaced the cables that connect the drive to the motherboard? Would try this as well.

It’s possible that the replacement drive is faulty as well. It could be a lot of things causing it to fail. If you can share a video with us, that would be great!

All the cables are new and I have tried other "new" lasers to me it seems it can not focus because it's not moving fast enough I am wondering if maybe some of the ribbon cables where to cheap and not passing enough voltage I can send a video later today

It also could be a capacitor causing it. How is the motherboard doing? All OK there? You can try the ribbon cables from the other PS3, right? Are Blu-Ray movies working fine?

It basically spins the disks almost reads it stops and then does up to 10 short spins single layer disks work fine the one Blu ray I have tried didn't work 100 percent of the time kinda spotty and the board to me looks in perfect order I saw no issues both times I took it apart.

Also since I feel it's important the other ps3 has it's og disk drive that is going out swapping in the one I just bought meets witht the same results however I have bought some other lasers as well with the same issue in both of them I don't know if I have gotten unlucky or the lasers are cheap but nothing seems to work

It does sound like the laser is having issues there with reading the discs. How are the blu-ray movies? Are they working? Perhaps it's for the best to buy a new laser deck instead of just the laser. You could try to see if this will fix it or not.
