Having issues attempting to remove a screw on the metal sheet.

I've begun cleaning my Lenovo Legion 5-15ACH6 and reached the part where I am unscrewing the screws on the metal sheets near the fans. I noticed one of the screws on the left side of the metal sheets isn't moving and it's been frustrating me for two days now. I've been using a PH0 screwdriver for all the others but I'm not sure if this one requires a different screwdriver or if I'm turning it the wrong way.

Hi @larrys69004

Here's the hardware maintenance manual that may help.

On p.31 there's a list of the tools required and on p.63 → p.64 it shows how to remove the thermal module, if this is the part you mean.

It doesn't mention anything about unscrewing it in any particular manner or even which size screwdriver to use

Hi! Also thanks for sending the manual. As I read the page you mentioned earlier. I noticed the left side of the ssd plate only has three screws while mines have 4. I need to unscrew it because I'm trying to clean the fans and apply thermal paste. It's pretty weird how the last screw on the metal plate won't budge and others told me to use a Phillips screw which I've been using but even that wasn't working for some reason. It's not even stripped either, it's pretty weird then I'm new to this.

The manual covers two different models i.e. 15" and 17".

If you look at p.54 →p.55 (17" model) there are 4 screws in one plate and 3 in the other whereas for the 15" model (see p.34) there are only 3 screws in each plate.

If you're trying a PH0 driver perhaps see if a PH1 works any better

I did use a PH1 driver as well and the screw still didn't budge. That's the part that's having me stressed since I used all of my Phillips screwdrivers in the set and none of them worked.

About the only thing I can suggest is apply 1 small drop of WD40 on the screw and allow it to penetrate for about a minute and then try undoing it.

Best way to apply the oil is to buy a syringe from a pharmacy (drug store/chemist), and use that.

Also make sure that the driver feels snug i.e. tight fit in the screwhead so as to get maximum pressure when turning
