Samsung TV very thin horizontal lines top and bottom of screen

Model number QN50Q60BAFXZA

Very thin colored lines at top of screen. The ones at the top are very close together and the bottom are spaced further apart. This just started. Also, TV is hard to turn on after being off for a few hours. AfterTV is on for a few hours, it turns on and off okay. TV Model # QN50Q60BAFXZ

Today ,TV started turning on and off by itself. There is a black image that starts at the upper right corner and when it gets towrd the center of the screen the TV would keep turning on and off. After a while this woud stop. The TV is still hard to turn on after a few hours down and the lines are at the top and bottom of the screen. I have tried to send a photo of the screen turning black.but have benn unsucessful. Thanks.

@nav65 post a couple of pictures which show what your display shows you. Also, verify that model number. It doesn't look like a Samsung model number

Model number QN50Q60BAFXZA. Lines at top of screen and almost at the bottom are very faint and multi colored. The is one thin line abouy 1/3 up from the bottom. I have tried all the ao called simple fixes. The lines are there when all devices( cable box, sound bar, dvd player) are disconnected. I dont think they will show up in a photo. My mistake with the TV nmodel nymber.

@nav65 Those lines are of the same origin as the error with your panel. They are caused by failing GATE drivers on the same driver boards.

It sounds like your Samsung TV might be experiencing a couple of issues. Here's a concise breakdown:

  1. Thin horizontal lines at the top and bottom of the screen:
    • These lines could indicate a problem with the TV's display panel or a loose connection. Try gently pressing on the edges of the screen to see if the lines disappear temporarily, indicating a connection issue.
    • If the lines persist, it may require professional repair or replacement of the display panel.
  2. Difficulty turning on the TV after being off for a few hours:
    • This could be due to a faulty power supply or capacitor within the TV.
    • Over time, components can degrade, causing difficulties in powering on the TV.

@tabathakang another weak answer by a hallucinating AI. There is a whole lot of blah, blah, blah but not a single intervention is listed. How do you check capacitors? Which ones? Why capacitors and not MOSFETS? If it works when warmed up, has AI considered cold solder joints? Failed capacitors get better with time? Use your AI in a helpful way and not just technobabbel. Let's see if you can actually get it to make a diagnosis and point to proper components and how to check these for errors. Right now it's all just a regurgitated Google :-(

Fix it!

@tabathakang here is the prove that your AI is hallucinating and does not know what it does not know. Seen the image? None of the suggestions are even remotely on target. Listen, I want you and your AI to be a success. I believe that it would be great if it could actually provide helpful answers. Right now it just supplies regurgitated stuff. Work on it and then come back with an improved algorithm

@tabathakang horizontal lines are never caused by failed capacitors or faulty power supplies. Horizontal lines are most commonly an issue originating by either the main board but most likely by the GATE drivers. Check to see if your panel uses a T-con board or if the mainboard connects directly to the scaler boards (long, skinny boards that connect to the LCD via multiple ribbons). It will help if we see what your display a. shows and b. how the panel is connected.

Update (04/28/24)

@nav65 that is caused by the driver boards. The long skinny boards that are connected to your LCD. It is possible that this is a bad component since it gets better once those are heated up. There are no schematics for these boards. You are having to look at it and check for anything burned/missing or otherwise damaged components. If you can, post some pictures of those boards and the ribbons cables. Ultimately this is not a DIY repair and will most likely require a new panel. However, we can at least try.

Disconnected left side of driver boards and power light came on, no sound or picture. Did the same with the right side and got same responce. When both are reconnected, the power light and back lights start flashing and the remote does turn on or off. I looked at the driver boards at the bottom of the TV with a magnifying glass and saw no burn marks, I guess TV is shot after about 30 months. I also examined the motherboard and power borad and couldnt find anything that look sketchy.

@nav65 yup, it's a failure on the driver board for the panel. Not much you can do, unless you know somebody with the right machine to replace the driver boards. Maybe you can find a replacement panel somewhere in your area.

Thanks for your help .
