- Prepare Tools and Area
Gather tire irons, bead breaker, rim protectors, tire lube, valve core remover, and a tire pressure gauge. Find a flat, clean workspace.
- Remove the Wheel
Loosen the axle nut and remove it. Detach the brake caliper and chain if needed. Slide the wheel out carefully.
- Deflate the Tire
Remove the valve cap and core to deflate the tire completely. Use the valve core remover for this step.
- Break the Bead
Use a bead breaker or press the tire’s edge down with a tool or foot to break the seal between the tire and rim.
- Remove the Tire
Insert tire irons under the tire edge (bead). Use them to pry the bead over the rim, working in small sections. Flip the wheel and repeat for the other side.
- Install the New Tire
Apply tire lube to the new tire's bead and the rim. Place one side of the bead over the rim, working it in with your hands or tire irons. Flip the wheel and repeat for the second bead.
- Seat the Bead
Inflate the tire slightly to help seat the bead on the rim. Ensure the bead is evenly aligned.
- Check and Adjust Pressure
Inflate the tire to the recommended pressure. Check for leaks and make sure the bead is fully seated.
- Reinstall the Wheel
Reattach the wheel, axle, chain, and brake caliper. Tighten everything securely and test the brakes.
- Final Inspection
Ensure all bolts are tight and the tire rotates freely without wobbling. Take a short test ride.
