No image after taking the picture

Can you view the pictures OK if you download them to a computer and look at them that way?

Can you view the camera's menu screens OK.

If the answers to the above two questions are yes and no then there may be a problem with the camera's LCD screen.

When trying to take a picture try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the screen and check if you can see any images of what you're trying to take a picture of. The image will be very faint so trying this in a darkened room may help to see it if it is there. If you can see it then there's a backlight problem with the LCD screen i.e. loose backlight power cable to the screen, faulty motherboard or more likely a faulty screen.

I cannot find a service manual for the D3X but here's the D3 service manual that may help to remove/replace the LCD screen.

The D3 and the D3X use the same LCD screen.
