Samsung UE58TU7100K The screen flickers blue and black

Samsung UE58TU7100K

Could you please help me out. I have the same issue as the other user but I'm out of warranty. I'm new to this site so bare with me. I have taken the back off the t.v and unplugged the power from the main board and the back lights are on. Not sure on the multi meter reading as I haven't tried that. Is there anything else to try or do you suggest replacing the main board?

I have progressed finding what is wrong. I disconnected the ribbon cable that attaches to both sides of the led at the bottom and everything worked other than a picture. So I guess my screen has gone? I have attached tape to the right hand side bribbon on one contactor and got the pic below now

Is this the best picture I will get or can I get better?

@adamday43394 here is the way I would do it. You can measure the voltages on the top connectors as I marked with the red arrows. IT might be possible to measure the A13V which will be the bottom row of the connector, buy pushing the probe into the connectors to touch the cables. Set your meter to something like 30V DC. Place the Black probe on the metal of the back of the display, or on one of the screws that hold the power board in. Both of those areas are ground. Now the first test point tells you that it should have 7.5V with the TV plugged in and should go high 12.35V when you turn it on. The other two contacts should be low on start up sa well. BLU_PWM will go high as you apply more brightness to your screen, but there has to be a voltage on startup. Let us know what you find out.

@adamday43394 what make and model is your TV? What are the symptoms? From the initial check you have done, it appears the power-board is good. Do you have a multimeter?

@oldturkey03 it's a samsung UE58TU7100K. I do have a multi meter but not sure where I would need to check.

Also even depending on the result would it still not require a new motherboard regardless?

da

@adamday43394 not really. It may have other issues. If your main board and the power board show the proper voltage, then there could be issues with the driver boards etc. Sure, you could go ahead and just change one board after the next, but it can get expensive and is wasteful. I'd check first because I am cheap :-)

what are the exact symptoms? does the power LED flash?

Great thanks for the help. Where do I need to attach the multimeter and what mode etc. I don't know where to put pics on here as I woukd like to send you a pic of the back of the internals

@adamday43394 sorry missed the last few comments. Anyhow, can you post a close up of the power board so I can take a look at the connector? You'll have to edit your Question to add new images Aggiungere immagini ad una domanda
