Please help! The coaxial cable connectors on my Wi-Fi card are bent.

Is there anything I can do to put a new wifi card in if the cable heads are misshapen?

Also, as a follow-up, is the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200.NGWG.N Wireless Card 802.11ax Bluetooth 5.2 Blk Pkg GIG+ card compatible with this laptop? If not, does anyone know of some good compatible wifi cards to look into?

Hi @dylandoesp30722

Best option is to replace the antenna assembly (supplier example only- search for Alienware 17 R4 antenna assembly to find suppliers that suit you best)

Here's the service manual for the laptop. Go to p.78 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the antenna assembly.

Hi @dylandoesp30722

Not 100% certain but I think that the original WLAN card in the laptop is a mini PCIe card and the newer WLAN cards are all M.2/NGFF type cards so it won't insert.

If there's room available, you could always try using a M.2 to Mini PCIe adapter (explanation link only). Note the difference between the adapter and the M.2 card shown in the link. The "key slots" in the connectors have to be compatible between the card and the laptop's WLAN motherboard connector so that the card will plug in.

Thank you very much for the swift responses. Part 1 was exactly what I was looking for.

To clarify the compatibility question, the card fits in the slot, though i’m unsure as to whether it would fit with the coaxical cables. Unlike the original killer wireless card, this new one has rings around the coaxical cable slots, making me think it might block the cables from even connecting.

Not sure what you mean but if you click on the 4th mini image of the antenna part I linked you will get a close up of the ends of the cables so that you can see what is looks like and then decide if it could just plug straight in.

They may have a new design connector on the card I don't know, it doesn't look like it in the image you posted of the replacement card.

Just for my info has the laptop got an M.2 connector for the WLAN card and not a mini PCIe?

@jayeff It was mini PCIe as you suggested. I accidentally bought the wrong card. Thanks.
